A little slapdash. Had a meal for the first time here and my lamb shank was very nice but could have done with mint sauce. The ploughman's was a different matter. I don't like mustard and the ham had mustard around the edges, not mentioned on the menu. The beef was raw and I took this for my cat. There wasn't any pork pie but something that resembled sausages and covered in some sauce which I didn't like, wasn't told they didn't have any pork pie. The salad was a small pot of chopped up salad, should have made more effort with the salad. The two young members of staff who served us were both wearing shorts which isn't very professional, especially when serving food. I wouldn't recommend eating at this pub as there are plenty of other ones which serve excellent food professionally. I don't find it easy to complain and spoil the evening so thought best to leave an honest review. We paid full price for the two meals but that's my fault for not complaining at the time. Just won't go there again and will let our friends know too.

Pricing on beer seems reasonable enough. Nice bar maid. Outside seating was good. Seems to be a magnet for local chavies if sun is out lol can't complain really

Fantastic place for Sunday lunch. First time in the area and was recommended The Star Inn by our Air bnb host. Food was incredible and service and staff lovely! Would 100% recommend.

Food was ok, a bit expensive. Nice beer, but one of the bar staff was very rude.

Room was very small and shabby. Water took a long time to get hot. Food was pretty poor. Couldn't open the bedroom window because of people smoking on the terrace. Carpets throughout were filthy. Would not recommend this hotel.

Great experience! Good food, well worth the money. A lot of effort was made by the chef. Delightful cheery hostess! Thank you.

Lovely interior and nice waiting staff. Don't miss the leek & potato chowder, it's outstanding. Lots of nice sounding snack items on the menu too. 100% I would visit again.

Lovely place. Great atmosphere to meet up for a drink. Food is always top level. Staff are always going above and beyond. Most importantly it's dog friendly!

Arrived at the Pickled Plum for booked lunch only to discover they did not allow dogs inside. Quickly looking for an alternative venue we rang The Star Inn. They immediately booked us a table for four adults and a small dog. We arrived to a great welcome with a bowl of water for the dog already in place at the table. The staff were very friendly and made a fuss of the dog. The three course meal was without fault. Excellent food and service. Will definately return .
