I have to say I was rather confused by my visit, as this restaurant was recommended to me.The restaurant itself and staff were great, I have no issue there. But it was the menu that caused the confusion. I downloaded the menu from their website, to review prior to the visit - it looked fantastic and had approx 17 mains. The menu I was given on the night had 7 mains? - fish (2), chicken, steak, pork, burger and risotto.I appreciate that the menu can change - as stated on the website - but I didnt expect it to change to such an extent? It may be called a The Jockey but I feel like the one who has been taken for a ride.I won't be going back.

Good atmosphere, greeted by attentive staff. We had steak pie and chicken, ham and leek pie. Both served with very beautifully prepared vegetables, a small mashed potato and tasty gravy in a small saucepan. Followed by turamisu and triple pistachio ice cream. Also a complimentary raspberry sorbet presumably because it was our wedding anniversary! Total £64. Pretty reasonable.

Hadn’t been for quite a while and popped in today. We had one of the most delicious meals we have had for a very long time from the Lunch Menu. Very, very good value and absolutely delicious. Excellent service from Ollie (who is at the top of his game) and the efficient and friendly lady waitress whose name I forget (apologies!). I am amazed they are not in the Michelin guide. This place and the staff tick every box Thank you. We loved it.

Excellent, convivial service by the team throughout. Food is cooked to order and we had pork chop in cider sauce and a venison pie with mash and heritage carrots. Then both of us had date and toffee pudding, all of which were deliciousIn fact so good, we booked Sunday lunchThank you The Jockey, great atmosphere, great look with a warm feel around the pub and restaurant. Everyone should go

Bubbly and friendly staff, in particular our waitress Jane and Ian. They made a lovely duo singing happy birthday to me!! Delicious food and a wonderful atmosphere! - ā€˜Delicious’ just doesn’t cut it! Fab fab fab! I can’t wait to come back again!

We escaped the bad weather and enjoyed a lovely and cosy family meal here today. Every dish was served promptly and the food was superb. The staff were smartly dressed, polite and friendly, and an added bonus is that they are dog friendly in the bar area. Cannot wait to come back again soon.

Great service and ambiance - lovely decor. Looking forward to going back to try the food - looks delicious. The staff did say, definitely worth booking in advance for food :)

It’s a shame. Used to be our go to place for a special meal. Steak menu reduced to two steaks. Price increased horrendously and no longer with onion rings or vine tomato’s. No starter bread. With a party of five every steak was wrong. Service on arrival very poor. Despite booking well in Advance for a party of five we were squeezed into a table for four. What could go wrong did go wrong. Service poor and had to go to bar for drinks and bill. Ā£32 for a steak with half a mushroom and tiny portion of chips was really bad considering service and quality. This place has really gone downhill and seems to be relying on its previous reputation which will change very quickly unfortunately. Won’t be back

This has been a place we have come back to as a family for years now. I really have been looking forward to this evening so much. The atmosphere was lovely and the ambience warm and inviting. The staff were delightful and polite but the service was slow, inconsistent and disjointed Things were missed from our order and the mains arrived minus the side dishes not materialising when we reminder staff. Every table around us were having a similar experience. The food was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. My Husband had the fillet steak and I had the trio of halibut prawn and scallop, finished with a cheese plate to share. Over £80 for 1 and a half courses was a shock. We will not be returning
