Medium sized garden centre with a large selection of plants , accompanied with a lovely coffee shop which is clean and well presented. Great food and friendly helpful staff . Recommended pit stop for a coffee or something more substantial.

This experience was less than satisfactory only one member of staff had a smile the place is dirty and the afternoon tea a total rip off first time I have been since the owner John killed himself, he would be turning In His grave. Very poor value for money and little selection on the menu

We have been here many times in the past and always enjoyed the lovely food so with this in mind I booked to raked my sister for her birthday lunch. Looking at the menus we were a little unsure what to order as it has changed since we were last time and was t a lot of choice. We plumped for the jacket potato with chilli and sour cream and the stacked sandwich. Well we were disappointed the potato was hard, not enough chilli (which was tasteless) and arrived without the sour cream. The Sandwich was tasteless and the bacon was hardly cooked with lots of fat, and the chips were hard, I’m not sure if this place is under new management but I am so upset it’s not anywhere near as good as it was

Nice Place, Home made cakes which is always a bonus and staff were attentive and quick quite busy lots of people eating lunch afternoon tea or tea and coffee.

Date visited 7th February. Arrived on time for our afternoon tea to be greeted by a lady (blond hair in pony tail) who marched over to the stand with a miserable face to be abruptly asked “have you booked” No hello or friendly welcome. When I said we had she looked on her screen huffed that she needed to lay a table and walked off. Once she had laid the table she pointed to the table with her head and said “you can sit there”. Now if I didn’t have two afternoon tea gift vouchers I would have walked back out because this lady had a serious attitude problem. So really I was stuck there, having to use up the vouchers. A dark bobbed hair lady approached, marginally more friendly and asked if anyone had asked us what we wanted to drink. As no one had she took our orders. After a 25 minute wait our afternoon teas arrived. Well we were both underwhelmed. Vegetarian sandwiches were two fingers of egg mayonnaise (I bit into mine and first bite found egg shell. Horrible!) and the others were made up of different cheeses. Surely the cook could come up with something more imaginative. Scone warmed through but as it cooled was quite clearly stale. All the other cakes we not pleasant. Orange cake which also tasted of almonds. Not a great combination. Biscuits and chocolate slice with mint icing on top. Again not nice at all. Mini flapjack was the best. I ended up taking the leftover cakes home but couldn’t face eating them so they ended up in the bin. Luckily my gift vouchers paid for the meal as had I had to have paid the teas would have gone straight back with a complaint. Poor experience all round and I will not recommend nor return to the potting shed. I feel sorry for my friend who paid for the give vouchers as she clearly wasted her money.

Visited January 2022, charming building but very cold. The waitress was pleasant but sadly did not inform us that they had been without a chef for three weeks until our meal was brought to the table. It was disappointing and we cancelled a subsequent reservation for afternoon tea.

Nice atmosphere. Kids loved their jacket potatoes and hubby his beetroot and goat cheese salad. Good place for a quick lunch. Haven't been here for dinner time so not sure. They serve hot drinks as well. Pet friendly - as long as you are seated outside.

My wife and I visited the Potting Shed for afternoon tea and found the whole experience very enjoyable. We were met by friendly staff who showed us to our table in the clean and well spaced out room. We were made to feel welcome. The tea, sandwiches and cakes were brought promptly and were all found to be tasty and enjoyable. My wife was given a vegetarian option.Overall a very pleasant experience that we would highly recommend.
