Mare & Colt in Wyre Forest

Great service friendly place and atmosphere nice food

My wife and I arrived for Sunday lunch at 1:30pm. The place was busy, although there were some vacant tables. We were shown to a table immediately, but then waited some 15 minutes for service. Drinks, starters, and main courses were ordered at the same time. It was a further 15 minutes or so before our "soups of the day" arrived....warm not hot and 2 small pieces of bread with a nob of straight out of the refrigerator unspreadable butter. The main courses came on large oval plates....1 pink thinly sliced roast beef and 1 roast turkey. It seems you get a large Yorkshire Pudding irrespective of what you order, plus roasted or minted potatoes, other vegetables and plenty of gravey....a bit skimpy on the carrots though and why the shredded lettuce. It had obviously been kept warm on a hot plate, waiting for service, but we enjoyed it. The meal was concluded with an enjoyable apple and blackberry crumble with custard for me and a cappuccino coffee for my wife. Total cost circa £50, very reasonable.With the exception of the excellent staff, just about coping, but ever smiling, friendly and respectful...our overall verdict....could be much better.

Stopped here on the way home to Somerset wanting a lovely pub to have a light lunch. We'll, we found it! You were great and the food was lovely. We plonked ourselves in front of the woodburner and were so well looked after by Amanda and Hannah. Thank you so much for what was a wonderful final stop on our way home from a few days away.

Came to the Mare and Colt for a birthday meal and it was the best meal we have had in a long time! The food was amazing and it came out quickly. Our server, Bernie was fantastic, she made the evening so relaxed and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be returning soon and we can’t wait!

We visited the Mare and Colt on the spur of the moment on Friday evening. We had Korean Chicken as a starter, Sirloin Steak as mains(we doubt the steaks could be bettered anywhere else), followed by Sorbet and Millionaires Shortbread Cheesecake desserts. All were excellent and were accompanied by a bottle of wonderful and light Prossecco. All the staff were delightful and helpful. Highly recommend.

It's an alright place to go, the food was ok and has a nice décor inside. Staff are friendly too. Our only issue was the prices of the food for what you get. For example the children's fish pie that had watery sauce was an adults size portion, but the children's chicken burger was smaller than a kids happy meal burger!! The dipping sauce that came with the meals was very runny/watery as well so for a meal that came to just under £50!! was pretty disappointing. Was an experience though 😅

Popped in for lunch after a shopping trip. We hadn’t booked but were pleasantly greeted and sat quickly by the manager Matt. Our waitress Sharon was exceptional, quick,efficient and knowledgeable. She recommended the perfect wine to compliment our steaks- which were also cooked to perfection.We ended up sitting by the fire enjoying a three course meal all afternoon!!100% would recommend & can’t wait to return

Great atmosphere, friendly staff and a delicious meal. My husband ordered a sirloin steak, rare, which was cooked perfectly. I had Chicken, Leek & Mushroom Pie which was also delicious. We were both very pleased with our meal and with the service. We will definitely be returning.

Staff were so lovely and welcoming, such a clean pub and really nice inside. Very chilled and traditional atmosphere. Will definitely return! Food is really good too and average priced!!
