Florentino's in Carmarthenshire

Would not recommend.I've been there before and the first time was ok, had a lasagne which wasn't the best especially for the price but passable.This time however my food was awful and a few other niggles resulted in a one star review.The disaster was the carbonara, which I unfortunately did not take a photo of. The amount of olive oil in it was quite frankly disgusting. When I took a bite and looked back down at the plate it had pooled where the pasta was.It was like an olive oil soup.You could have fried chips in it.My friend had some risotto and the olive oil used was quite liberal in his meal also. Looking at the other one star reviews this has happened before which isn't really acceptable for the almost £15 they charge for it.I had it replaced with a mozerella and ham calzone which wasn't much better, I have attached a picture of that. The mozerella inside was barely cooked, not melted at all and the ham which looked and tasted like those cheap wafter thin slices was also lukewarm. No sauce at all inside so it was pretty dry and flavourless (apart from ham and cheese) and the little amount of sauce outside was tepid at best.Also the water.When I sat down I asked for water, they gave me a bottle of water, one you'd have to pay for and they didn't offer a pitcher of water for the table, again a common occurrence according to other reviews. Granted maybe half the fault is one me for not specifying tap water but in most restaurants I've been you usually the waiter usually asks "tap or bottled".I hadn't actually touched the water whilst eating the carbonara but whilst waiting for the calzone I tried to open it. I couldn't. Neither could anyone at our table unless we had a knife to pry the cap from the ring, it just spun round in place. According to the waiter who saw us all struggling with it this was a common problem they were having. We sent it back with him in exchange for some tap water and a pitcher for the table.They didn't charge for the carbonara or the bottle of water.That was my experience there today and I have no intention of ever going there again.If you happen to be in the area I would recommend The Cawdors in Llandeilo or The Warren and Cinnamon which are in Carmarthen.

Ok, so me and the wife were very curious about this place so here are the pros and the cons:Cons:1. Small bottle of Fanta was £3.80....2. It is expensive, most we have ever spent going out for food.3. 1 staff member was very professional but he was quite above you too, his presence made you feel like he was angry, but he seemed ok... I think?Pros:1. Pizza was stunning, I mean, really stunning. I had the Maiona or something with loads of meat, it was great. Had to cut it myself, not sure if that's a thing or not.2. My wife's seafood thing was very delicious apparently, the squid thing she had was a little over cooked as it was quite tough and squishy. (If that makes sense.3. Beautiful environment, you really felt part of Italy there. They all (but 1) had strong Italian accents, the music was relaxing it was nice and warm and cozy.4. Pudding was very expensive, but, to be fair, the portions and taste were pretty darn big and delicious. I had the Cheesecake, I ruined it by having all the sauces, I recommend just strawberry sauce. I had noticed on here the cheesecake is presented differently to everyone... Not sure why. My wife had the Nutella thing and that was basically a pizza size dough on a plate full of Nutella and cream. My wife really enjoyed it, I couldn't of even attempted that after eating a pizza.Our bills are normally around £50 for me, wife and 2 kids. This bill was £86.59 for me and my wife. That was a huge shock, but, I feel it is worth trying it out and to be honest, I think I would go again. It was a nice experience.

Absolutely in love with this place! Was just a random stop off for us for a spot of lunch and was the best find we could have imagined! We called up before hand - literally 20 minutes before arriving and was lucky enough to get a reservation. When we arrived all tables looked occupied and as soon as a table was finished there happened to be people coming in to fill the seats again.... Was a constant rotation of people - so do recommend booking! Staff were also super friendly, and attentive. The sea bass was sooooo good! I think I had a dream about it that night! Pizza was also very tasty! Pasta was so tasty too.... You just have to try this place.... We're not local but would consider making this a stop off for any future visits to Wales for sure!!Just to add there's also a branch in Tenby - but we didn't get to visit that one.

Fantastic Italian restaurant, great attentive service, fabulous food and wines, a wonderful experience watching the skills of the bread maker and the pizza oven , great decor

Please visit here!We turned up on a Saturday evening having not booked and they managed to squeeze us in, and what an experience!Great choice of food, such a lovely atmosphere and the staff were absolutely incredible and super friendly.The food was so good! So many great flavours and generous servings, cannot fault. Will definitely be visiting again

Staff were lovely. Food was excellentBut, as others have commented, the portions were too big!I would have preferred, a smaller portion, a lower price and hence, another courseImpossible to order and enjoy dessert on a full belly of pastaAt the end of the day, I would have spent the same, or more and I would have had a 5 star experience

The "risotto" was as overcooked as overpriced, floating in butter at the bottom, sold as "different types of fish" and being only frozen seafood. My partners beef was well overcooked too and everything was under seasoned. I've had polenta many times back in Italy and the one I had here was the most sad and "meh" polenta I've ever had. All of this for a ridiculous amount of money.

Undoubtedly fresh seafood! You won’t go wrong with any seafood dishes they provide.HOWEVER, the spaghetti itself is just so-so; the risotto is terrible; all Italian Elements of the dishes are nowhere near “Italian”. Only a fast food / microwave level. I will therefore regard this restaurant more of a good seafood place instead of ANYTHING Italian.AND, they only have one toilet each for man and woman. If you get bad food (which is the restaurant to blame) and want to use the toilet for a bit longer. the waiter will rudely knock the door to harry you, and blaming you occupying the “only toilet”. That’s me spending only 10min for a big relief after the food they provide.So, be prepared :)

Walking past at lunchtime, pushing granddaughter, the wonderful food smells were too great and, as there were some tables free in the small marquee outside, it would have been rude not to stop!Very friendly and helpful staff assisted with a table and pram parking bay, we were good to go with a ceasar salad and pork with mushroom sauce, and a glass of house red for the pram pusher!Spontaneous stops are often the best.

Went on a Friday night so as expected was super busy, it is quite small inside so felt quite crowded and extremely loud. The portions of food were huge and absolutely delicious, lots of flavour and tasted really fresh. Portion size was really big like too big I could never eat it all , but it was so tasty. Food overall was quite expensive. The staff were all amazing and worked super hard the amount of times they went up and down them stairs and in and out of the kitchen was amazing, they were very friendly and helpful. Overall lovely evening out would definitely recommend and go again.
