Hope And Anchor in Carmarthenshire

Popped in for a drink after walking the dogs. Never been here before. What a gem of a place. Lovely, welcoming staff and lovely environment. We will go back for food. Menu looks fab.

We have just returned home from a seven nights stay in Burry Port. On our first night we found the Hope & Anchor about five minutes walk from the cottage we were renting and enjoyed the food and the excellent service that we went three more times.

I stayed in Burry Port for a short break at the end of May and the owner at my B&B recommended the Hope & Anchor to us. From the outside it was unclear that is was a full size restaurant and my partner was a little dubious about eating there.We need not have been concerned as once inside it was evident that the place was immaculately clean, spacious (there's more space towards back of the building and a courtyard area which would be great in warmer weather). The welcome we received was very warm and the waitress service was fabulous.The meals were the best we have had in a long time, with fresh ingredients, home cut chips and everything seasoned and balanced to perfection. Even things such as the salad were made excellent and you could see that the Chef had really thought about the menu and every ingredient, where usually a salad seems thrown together, here it was mixed perfectly and felt just as much part of the meal as everything else.We loved the food so much we went back the following night and plan to return on our next visit to the area.

Nice bar restaurant in the middle of the village 50m from the railway station plenty of seating on the outside terrace loads of room inside staff were very friendly only set back was there were no drinks on the bar plenty of pumps but no beer cider lager it was all from the refrigerator and the choice was limited

Only had coffee but staff very pleasant and helpful. Menu looked good will definitely return to try fresh seafood

Four of us called in on a wet afternoon in February, simply trying to find somewhere for tea or coffee. We are immediately taken by the pudding selection and treated ourselves. It was lovely, and the staff were very friendly too.

Very, very good. Excellent fish menu, but steak and burgers also available.If you got half as much at twice the price in a posh London restaurant you would be more than happy.Go now, you won't be disappointed and if you don't like food you can work your way through their extensive beer menu.Why are you still reading, book at table now!

My family announced their choices very good value for money and very tasty. I liked the eclectic decor more than my food.. l ordered a Welsh rarebit off menu which l thought was undercooked in terms of the topping. Not enough egg ratio to cheese ( always a hot debate) and bread wasn't crisp enough. However l couldn't fault the magnificent presentation with the generous portion of varied salad garnish ( see photos) The fish specials on the board ready for the evening customers also looked well presented.Service was very attentive, high chairs are available and there are funny mottos & sayings on hanging plaques to read while you're waiting for your food to arrive. Of note were three framed professional photos of Burry Port beach.

Amazing Thursday treat, great tasting food and service. Locally sourced sea food specials make that extra special difference.

My husband and I both had fish dishes, they were both lovely and fresh, as was the side salad. We were able to take our dog here with us(bar area) the chef cooked some sausages for her which was so lovely and thoughtful 😘
