We had an excellent lunch yesterday. All dishes were very tasty, well presented and of sufficient quantity. We are back again next week! The staff were very pleasant and chatty.

A lovely recommendation and we weren't disappointed. Great food with a warm welcome & excellent service

Found Y Polyn in the Michelin Guide whilst researching places to visited during a short break in South Wales. We visited on a Sunday lunchtime and were very impressed particularly at the price of £45 a head for three courses, a bargin for this level of cooking. My highlights were the shaved Wye Valley aspargus and rocket salad starter served with loads of shaved parmesan, amazingly crispy croutons and a wonderfully lemony dressing; and the baked white chocolated cheese cake served with roasted plums and ice cream, super indulgent! Its a shame this restaurant is so far from my house as I would be a regular if it was closer.

Absolutely stunning Sunday Lunch at Y Polyn. Beautiful food, relaxed atmosphere. My first visit post lockdown and an absolute reminder of why I need to get back to this part of the world more often. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Visited for mother's day lunch with a party of seven. Fantastic customer service, very relaxed atmosphere. Food was outstanding - we each ordered a different dish, all dishes were fantastic. Wine was also lovely. Great experience . Look forward to visiting again. Thank you.

Great atmosphere, service is swift and very professional, Staff are welcoming and courteous. The food is fabulous and the wine list is extensive but not expensive. They have got the balance absolutely right. A lovely experience and great value, a treat that can be enjoyed on many levels.

Fantastic food at what we thought to be very fair pricing for the standard. Great service from friendly staff - they were understanding and accommodating in a tricky situation which meant we turned up with a smaller party than we originally booked for. A must visit.

Absolutely fabulous - the excellence of the cookery and lack of fuss speaks volumes. As the website says no pretention just Great local, seasonal ingredients presented with love and more than a little skill. Being able to sleep over in our motorhome makes this a perfect destination.

Checked the review before we booked a table as we normally do. The lady, who served us was really friendly and the rest could be much friendlier if we had ordered more drinks. The food was very disappointing. I believe the chef had put lots of effort into preparing it. However, I'm sorry to say the result left much to be desired. Starters were ok. We liked the duck with plum sauce. My steak is nothing special. It was no better than a random pub steak we had the night before. My son, an avid good steak lover, didn't show much interest in my dish. The specially prepared sauce didn't go with steak at all. A normal peppercorn sauce would have sufficed. My husband's lamb is very dry. It tasted like somebody had shredded a piece of over-cooked lamb last night and slapped it together somehow. For the price they charge, I don't think it is acceptable!

An absolute stunner of a meal at Y Polyn, a cosy and accommodating place, today—no ordinary Sunday lunch. A fabulous jambon persillé and pithivier, an incredible fish soup and roast pork belly with cauliflower mash and kimchi(!). Long may this bolthole survive and thrive.
