The look of the Inn on arrival was very positive and inviting, with lots of parking space in the car park. However, the entrance was a real disappointment and it would be far nicer to have the original front door as the main entrance, instead of what appears to be 'The Tradesmen's Entrance'! There was no reception desk so after wandering around the place for a few moments, we ventured into the bar area, which doubles up as the reception area! Our room had a double bed in it and the bedlinen and towels were both good, although a king size bed would be far better as there would be enough room for it if the two bedside tables were smaller. However, the bathroom was very tired with mould around the walls and bottom of door. We had to ask for help to get the TV to work and the desk light didn't work - probably the bulb needs replacing. Tea/coffee facilities OK and the little cartons of milk were surprisingly good too! Wardrobe had a very musty/damp smell inside. We had an OK supper but we weren't offered a wine list and just had a couple of G & T's. My partner's Steak and Ale Pie was good, although the pastry was undercooked and I overheard another diner mentioning her pastry was undercooked too. I had the Plaice but there was no salad garnish so it was quite bland although the waitress did take note of my request for crispy chips which I was impressed about. Breakfast was fine and I enjoyed the well cooked bacon, which I'd requested. The gardens were attractive but we felt the whole place was 'tired' and needed some investment and updating, and it was apparent they had a staff shortage too. However, the staff were very helpful and pleasant and did their best to make us feel welcome. Having had breakfast in the 'conservatory', it would be a far nicer room to have had dinner in, providing some attention was given to it with far better lighting and candles on the table etc. Instead we were reduced to sitting in a very tired and unappealing bar area. Although the website stated the price was £75, my partner was not able to book online and had to phone to arrange the booking, which was then increased to £85!I was left underwhelmed by the whole experience and felt it could do with a visit from 'The Hotel Inspector' to bring it up to date which would, without doubt, result in a 4* rating with more guests and profits increasing enormously.I wish them well but we won't be returning.

One of the best roast dinners I’ve ever had! Outstanding service as well

My wife and I went for Sunday roast lunch. We had a choice of Roast beef, Roast pork and Turkey. My wife chose the beef and I had Turkey with all the trimmings followed by cheesecake and syrup pudding and ice cream. We have had Sunday roasts many times in the U.K and have never had a better lunch than this. We were told that the chef’s name is Brenda and we thank you and the other staff for serving up such a fine meal….Highly recommended!

This is a little late as my family stayed here the end of July this year. Well what can I say…if I was going to stay anywhere, it would be here! I got married in Nantwen cottage near by. Brenda & her staff could not have looked after us all more! They let us have our reception at short notice, they even welcomed our dog Ernie. Giving him biscuits and a blanket. They opened the restaurant just for us on my wedding day. They could not do enough for us! Gorgeous food, lovely rooms (so my family said),the best manager and staff you could wish for! You made our wedding so special & I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️

Nipped in for a drink during our holiday and what a lovely and friendly little pub. Lovely garden with the stream running behind it. Food looked nice but we had already eaten which was a shame. Definitely recommend popping in if you’re passing.

Brenda and her team were really friendly and couldn’t do enough for you, being really accommodating for my small children, my husband and I. Great value for money, food was lovely (bacon at breakfast time was the best!!!)portions are generous and reasonably priced! rooms are basic but have everything you need, they had an iron and ironing board that I could use too. I cannot fault the place. Hopefully we will get to visit again.
