Visited The Box Tree recently, which was my first experience of proper fine dining and what an absolutely fantastic evening I had!The food was incredible - every course was so tasty and interesting, amazing wines that went with the meal and Harry who was our wine waiter for the evening was a total legend! Knowledgeable and funny, he was brilliant!Honestly couldn't have had a better evening and I shall endeavour to return again soon.

If you want to go somewhere special this is the place. Wonderful food and service and an atmosphere that makes you feel welcome and comfortable. Just sampled the 60th anniversary tasting menu with wine pairing which was a great mixture of flavours. The trout and duck in particular were outstanding.

A very enjoyable meal with lots of flavour. Small tart to start was magnificent with the thinnest flakiest pastry. The special butter with the bread was great!

·

Food glorious as usual, everything tastes wonderful here, staff lovely and friendly, all relaxed and no rush.

Absolutley fabulous Sunday lunch. The ambience was great, there was some really nice music playing but it wasn't too loud, I could have been with my deafest of elderley relatives and we could still have had a conversation. The chairs were comfortable and the room temperature was perfect. The speed of service spot on and both the food and service were excellent. Couldn't fault anything, I can't wait to go back.

I've dined at The Box Tree several times over the last 50 years and although I live some distance from Ilkley it is my favourite restaurant. The combination of outstanding food, beautiful surroundings and skilled, professional and delightful staff, never fails to impress. I love the place.

My partner and I had the vegetarian tasting menu at The Box Tree (photo of the menu attached). Whilst the service was great and the staff were attentive, the food really wasn't good. The croquette was the only enjoyable dish - albeit fairly basic. The veloute was mediocre. The remaining 4 courses were well below par for any restaurant, let alone for a gourmet dining experience. Each course (in particular the heritage beetroot dish and jersey royal potato dish) was bland, largely flavourless and lacked imagination. The vanilla panna cotta was just fine. The apricot souffle was done well, with a good consistency, but lacked sweetness. The scant drops of Michel Cluizel chocolate sauce which were added to the souffle did nothing to improve the flavour.A disappointing evening. It benchmarks poorly against restaurants of (supposedly) the same calibre, and isn't worth anywhere near £85 per head. We can't speak for the meat tasting menu, of course, but have heard good things. This is a cautionary tale, though, if you are planning to order the vegetarian tasting menu. We will unfortunately not be returning.

The staff were excellent ensuring we were made to feel very special. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and provided us with full details of all the matching wines we had with each course. To put it simply we had a fantastic evening with superb food. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a special evening.

This place is simply fabulous! It isn't just the exceptional, delicious and utterly delightful food, it's the atmosphere, the ambience, the truly lovely interesting and intelligent team of people...and it's so easy to be here, no stiffness no awkwardness, no formality, it is simply lovely. It feels as if everyone who works here loves the place. It all adds to the wonderful experience. We had the lunch tasting menu and as I said before the food is exceptional. It was faultless. Skilfully flavoured. Beautifully presented. It was worth the long journey and I'm sure we will return. Thank you Box Tree for a lovely afternoon.
