Salts Diner in Bradford

We decided to have lunch at the diner in the mill; it was a rather busy Saturday, so there was quite the queue. The staff were friendly and polite; however, the younger staff appeared quite disorganised and slow. I believe the waiting time and overall service could have been managed better with a more experienced team; however, I appreciate such employees keep such businesses staffed. Once we were seated, the staff tended to our needs within a reasonable time; the food took longer than you’d expect, but again we appreciated how busy it was (still not a great excuse). The food is of excellent quality in the main; however, the product slipped slightly due to the high demand. I recommend trying it for yourself but expect delays during busier times. I hope the management will consider my feedback to make the minor improvements required to get a five star rating in the future.

Service was superb, friendly without being intrusive.The menu is short but what they do is very good. The cakes and desserts are where they excel.Here is my gripe…What would have been the best sticky toffee pudding I’ve ever had was ruined by being served with vegan vanilla ice cream. I’ve nothing against vegans or vegan food, I enjoy a lot of it, it’s just that vegan vanilla ice cream isn’t very good.The daft thing is, the sticky toffee pudding itself is not vegan!

Extremely busy and vibrant diner. Quite large capacity with lots of tables. I had eaten elsewhere so cannot mark on food or service.

We ate in the restaurant and the food was simply delicious. We were served by attentive and very cheerful staff. Do not eat here if you simply want a quick bite to eat. This is a place to sit and have a relaxing meal. Before and/or after the meal you should take time to explore the exhibits that are open to the public, as well as many various products for sale.

Lovely, large old woollen mill converted to gallery/shops, very nice cafe etc. Interesting Victorian village of Saltair which is a UNESCO world heritage site, with almshouses, park, canal, train station.

Amazing setting, great food and drinks all at a reasonable price.

A lovely cappucino in a china mug. Plenty of seating however the acoustics are terrible (noise bounces round the space even if very few customers). If that bothers you and the cafe in the opera (top floor) is open you are much better there.Its a bright and colourful space, has a busy feel so nice for a sit down but cant imagine whiling away the hours in this coffee establishment. Although you can certianly while away the hours with a coffee and the book shop, home shop, walking shop and antiques place all on this floor.

Friendly service with a smile at Salt's Diner. Popped in for a quick coffee and cake with my family whilst visiting the gallery.The coffee is supplied by one of my favourite local roasters, Dark Woods and was strong and tasty as I would expect.We ordered chocolate cake, a frangipane and a Strawberry Streusel cake, which were all delicious.Good value in a great location. Will be back soon.
