Excellent personal service from the owner who cooks fish to order and are delicious highly recommended for a truly authentic Yorkshire fish n chips experience. It's a shame the owner has reduced opening times to just 3 days a week do check before you go.

Best fish and chips in Yorkshire, in my opinion

The best takeaway fish & chips I’ve had in a long long time. The fish is cooked to order in beef dripping, as all good fish & chips should be. Try the scones (aka patties in the part of West Yorkshire I grew up in).Friendly & cheerful staff. Fantastic value. I highly recommend this establishment.

Lovely fish and chips - friendly staff, little space with a couple of picnic benches next to the shop to eat if wanted and we got our first taste of a 'scone' which I'm told is a Yorkshire specialty - you need to try it - I'd definitely go back for that (flavour is a bit like a Scotch pie - strange! - I really don't know how but it was delicious!). Small portion of fish and chips in the photo.

Called in here with the family last Saturday. Have to say, I think these were the best fish and chips we have had in a long time. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners and they came out several times to check everything was ok while we stuffed our faces in their benched area. Absolute delight!Think we have to start making the trip over the hill from Cragg Vale. Thanks!!

Coming back up North you forget how real chip shops work. A random (seemingly) opening schedule that has this eatery closed at the weekend and frying (of course) only at tea times. Nevertheless, when the owner asks you straight away what you're eating when you walk in so he can get it frying so you don't have to wait by the time you're being served it is a very good sign indeed. The diminutive waiting area was packed quite literally with locals (easy to spot a bunch of folk who all know each others business) ordering strange delicacies like spam fritters and dabs (yeah I know). Ever the traditionalist I stuck with me haddock and chips (plus mushys of course) whilst the nipper showed me up with nuggets and chips (though she got some pop thrown in so it saved me a quid on a can). Now it's probably the long walk across Haworth moor and to Swithins and back that's making me say this (as well as eating in pubs all week) but they were the best fish supper I've had in a while - and I've eaten in some good chippies (Harry Ramsden's in Leeds, The Magpie in Whitby, Chez Vincent (in Bruges if you're interested), etc.). Not 5 because cod roe wasn't on the menu but you can't have everything can you? Highly recommended if you're there when they're open.
