Good for a cheap feed. My partner is always happy with the meat. Very disappointed you arent doing the cauliflower tart for us veggies anymore

Average, very tight on the meat, only had a few bits on a large plate, plenty of veg and potatoes. Shame no mash or green beans ECT. Friendly service.

Bar staff were friendly, chatty and very helpful. We were made to feel very welcome by both Neil and Emily Jo. Food was good, tastier than it looked, hot and fresh. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Everything we wanted was available

We held a private gathering/wake which was very well organised by landlord Mike. The atmosphere throughout was warm, welcoming and supportive. The buffet was fresh and tasty and a wide range of drinks available. Staff were friendly and service prompt. The pub is large but the layout gives the effect of cosy separate spaces instead of one big, exposed space. It is easy to find off the main road with plenty of parking. Definitely recommend for a private function like ours; but noticed the other areas had a good buzz of families and friends enjoying half-term meals and drinks.

Very friendly staff would definitely recommend. Chef served food very quickly, efficient and attentive customer service all round

What I really love about the place is the staff. The food is very decent and the atmosphere nice and relaxed most of the time. Of course when you get afternoons with lots of kids in, it is different. Good location, good wheelchair access and once again a great team.

After riding from Hull to Shipley on motorcycles for a funeral in temperatures of sub 3 degrees and getting lost on the way home I would have happily settled for a bag of cold snot. Thankfully we found this place and got a warm welcome, a hot meal, a good pint and a seat by a radiator. The carvery is your standard stuff, it was cooked well, served well, and tasted great.I had a carling, my mate had a coffee no problem with the drinks. The guy serving us was welcoming ( young lad, fresh tattoo on his arm) and pointed us to a seat near a radiator as he could tell we were colder then a snowman’s snow Willy! Surprising welcome as most places don’t really want us in as we’re not the most pleasing on the eye and look rough as a badgers bum. The rest of the staff were pleasant enough with us, the landlord even giving us directions back to the motorway ( maybe he did want rid of us after all lol). All in all a good place to eat and I would definitely visit again. Thanks to all at the Hitchin Post.

Up there with one of the worst places I’ve eaten at. The burger meat was the horrible cheap nasty stuff with zero flavour. It was also burnt. The bun itself was dry and stale. The chips were ok. The lasagna tasted like it came fresh out of the microwave. The place is also tired and needing some major renovation works. The carpet is lifting off the floor and the toilets are gross.

Cracking place with a decent food selection my partner said the beef was the best beef she’s ever had , I got a burger that was great . Desert of a chocolate fudge cake was excellent too. Only gripe is that sometimes the full menu isn’t available

Love comming here for carvery, find it much better than Toby, and the dinning area is much more relaxed. As far as the carvery goes it's a standard offering nothing to shout about but if you are in the need of a feed at a reasonable price it hits the spot. The main menu sounds amazing but haven't tried anything off it as yet but saw other people's orders and they looked good. My only quibble was that I paid for a large carvery and TBF got extras but all served on a standard plate??? So not much room for veg etc. Place is easily accessible for all and staff very helpful.
