Awful. We visited 6/8 months ago, it was horrible food then and today we got cold soup and half cooked Thai vegan burger. So not very overwhelmed by the cooking skills; it's not hard to heat soup up or flip over the vegan burger. My partner who had the classic burger describes his burger as very bland. We are local about 10 minutes walk away but we won't waste our energy going back. We gave you a second chance but you failed miserably.

Absolutely shocked at what we was served. My partner had bangers and mash with red wine gravy. (Bisto) seasonal veg ( frozen uncooked garden peas ) I had a Cumberland with chips. Nothing special.

Proper Yorkshire pub with staff you can have a laugh with. Hearty and tasty breakfast. But the bathroom in our bedroom was ridiculously small and badly designed. Easier to use the toilet in an aeroplane... Spoilt staying there.

Fantastic place, good sized car park the staff were very helpful. chatty and informative. The rooms were pleasant, clean and well equipped, good sized TV, coffee making facilities the en suite was excellent and made good use of the space. A great selection of beers and wines are served at the bar and the bar staff were very knowledgeable. Even the locals were friendly and we spent a great night chatting to them, in all a great night (from what I can remember!) the full English in the morning helped with the hangover and then a trip to Haworth which was 5 mins away. All in all I would recommend staying here.

This was our Christmas Day experienceFirstly, once we had found someone who knew where our table was, we were shown to 3 separate tables when we had booked a table for 14, only to be told that a table of 14 was not possible, this should have been noted at the time of booking as we probably would not have booked.  We then had to assist staff to move the tables together.Secondly, the tables were not set up for a Special Family Christmas Dinner as you would expect. No tablecloths, crackers, decorations, not even cutlery or condiments. The crackers and cutlery were then brought to us at one end of the table and we had to pass them around the table, never have I had to experience this in an eating establishment. The waitress did her best but it was obvious that she was stressed and she had to keep asking me to check my list to see what we had ordered even though I was told that the list had been printed off in advance. When the food arrived, it was very disappointing, the below in particular:• Posh Prawn Cocktail - 5 small defrosted prawns, a slither of salmon, a few lettuce leaves on a saucer! No king prawn to be seen and no sauce. This was far from a 'posh' prawn cocktail.• Goats cheese tart - a slice of soggy quiche•  Roast Turkey - the meat was tasteless, the sprouts were hard, the parsnips were watery and tasteless, the yorkshire puddings were burnt. We would have expected stuffing and cranberry, but this was also missing from the plate. We actually sent a Yorkshire pudding back and it was replaced with another burnt one 20 minutes later! Which was obviously rejected and sent back.• Roast Beef - again tasteless and tough as old boots and fatty, again  burnt puddings and tasteless veg and very lumpy mashed potatoes.• Salmon Wellington - alot of soggy pastry with a small piece of salmon! All in all, I have to say extremely disappointing and poor presentation. To be fair I gave one star because it wouldn’t allow me to give zero

Lovely old pub, great atmosphere and the staff and management are really friendly and helpful. I was there at a very busy time of year and they did everything to make me feel welcome. The room was great and I can also recommend the English breakfast which was superb, veggie options are available.

Average, certainly not one of the best for Sunday lunch. Had much better roast beef. It was pale coloured slices. The pork was nice but no crackling. Meal warm, extra gravy much hotter. Vegetables questionable, couldn't make out what was what. Hardly any staff. The apple sauce was obviously out of a jar. Won't be going back. The weather was very wintry and there were only nine customers. Our party made it fourteen.

We were greeted on Xmas day by a lady saying she was totally stressed out and didn’t know where we were sitting. We went to a tiny table no effort made not enough chairs and a dirty table.it just had cutlery shoved in a bucket .the starters came and were plonked on our table we still hadn’t received our first drink. The starter was shocking a small tea plate with a few prawns on. We could here the other tables around us starting to complain. The mains came all plated up like poor pub food with cold sprouts no stuffing and a tiny pig with no blanket . The sweets came and when we asked where our cheese and biscuits were they said we hadn’t ordered any and will have to pay. The bill was £330 it was absolutely shocking worst Xmas dinner we have ever had and will never go back again. We didn’t complain as we didn’t want to spoil Xmas.

They seemed to be having some kind of meltdown in the kitchen during our meal. The Sunday roast was lovely, but took forever to arrive. They lost a drinks order at one point so we had to order again (and wait again). Desserts were a bit hit and miss, the classic puddings were good but the cheesecake was a bit weird. It's a nice place inside, cozy decor and a good choice at the bar. Go for a drink but maybe give the food a miss till they sort themselves out.

Our group had a lovely meal at The Old Silent Inn on Friday evening. The two young people that served us were lovely. The food and service was excellent, steak was cooked perfectly and the chips were very tasty. Good portion sizes and very reasonable prices too. Will definitely return if we're in the area again.
