EXCELLENT, warm and welcoming with attentive staff but not overly, the Guinness was very good and the sirloin of beef with an added side of cauliflower cheese was fabulous, a great atmosphere with an open fire, give it a go, sit.back and enjoy excellent service with a smile.

Our regular local - good food, wine and beers plus a wonderful real fire.

Excellent restaurant/bar , they've done such a good job on the refurb we only called for drinks but the food looked fantastic coming out of the kitchen .

Just had the most perfect Sunday dinner here. Everything was just amazing. Delicious food....kind of gourmet pub grub, beautifully presented, decent portions and cooked to perfection. Reasonably priced yet expensive enough to justify the quality ingredients, even the side dish of vegetables was cooked to perfection and great quality produce. The beef was perfectly cooked, with a massive yorkshire pud, just enough gravy on the side....it was a wonderful plate of food. Puddings were equally impressive, wonderful sticky toffee pud, a decent chunky creme brulee and a very nice choc and pecan tart.Staff are amazingly friendly and helpful and the decor and atmosphere is smart and stylish. Great range of beers and we had a lovely bottle of shiraz that was reasonably priced. Haven't had such a good Sunday dinner in a long time...will be back soon! Good and reasonable kids menu too.

We stayed in the apartments above the pub and were able to bring the food and drinks upstairs. Everything was perfect, and the quality of the food and service was above and beyond. Strongly reccomend.

We've not been for a while. Sunday roast beef was excellent, however the sticky toffee pudding and creme brulee were the stars of the show! Superb service as well.

First visit whilst staying with friends. Lovely surroundings, good ambience, great background music, lots of menu choice all cooked to a great standard. Staff friendly and professional. Will definitely revisit when next in the area.

A bit disappointing really. I want 2 things from the ideal pub, lots of real ales with an Auto-vac system, and good food. I'd heard this place was refurbished and hoped I might score on both fronts. The interior looks very smart and we settled into a comfortable circular bay. Unfortunately the 6 pumps were only offering 2 ales, Yorkshire Brunette or Black Sheep. I tried both but neither were pulled as I'd hoped. The auto-vac allows the barman to pull the pint with a lot more energy creating a tighter creamier head. Unfortunately, this didn't happen with either pint, despite me specifically asking for it on the second pint. The food was "OK". I would really appreciate more veggie options. My wife had the Superfood salad which she felt was bland. I had the fish pie which was again, OK but nothing 'delicious' as per other reviews. The sauce for the fish could have been a great deal tastier. I will keep an eye on menu changes and give it another go and hope this might have been a blip.
