Ordered takeaway, fish batter stuck to paper, tasted nice, nothing special

A M A Z I N G!!! In fact I can't stop thinking about how tasty the fish and chips I had from here were and that they deserve an award- the best I have tasted! I haven't been a fan of fish and chips for 2 decades now - when I was a child we would always have fish and chips from a local chippy and they were delicious but as we have had more and more access to takeaway food over the years I found standards dropped and fish and chips have never been the same as the ones I had as a child, but I have now reverted my opinion thanks to Websters. They were also polite and made my fish and chips in vegetable oil, but with no compromise on taste!

Called in last sunday to get a chip butty.......haven't had one for ages and was really looking forward to it! When i got home and unwrapped i was impressed with the portion size but unfortunately the taste was not impressive. The scraps were close on burnt and the chips were a dark brown colour but some were nearly raw inside! It tasted awful. I didn't eat much and the rest got binned......£3.10 wasted. The next day my stomach felt really off all day. The oil used obviously needs changing....disgusting. I will not be returning.

very good fish and chips, fast service, lovely staff.

·

Really lovely fish and chips and the best onion rings I have ever had! Thank you

·

Not good at all - batter was soggy, chips were scrappy and definitely old warmed up. Too oily. What a shame as the old owners had created the best place in Baildon - completely ruining the shop

·

Very good quick service, really fresh white fish and amazing batter.Didn't take photos it was too late...😂

·

Scraps of Chips nothing like real chips. Special fish was nice but the chips were brittle, scraps. Expect one or two but this is what I received in photo.Terrible

The takeaway is nice, my only complaint is the batter. It's too moist/wet/greasy, and as a result always seems to stick to the paper it's wrapped in.Opening hours are great all week

I'm medically exempt, as agreed upon with my doctor, but was met with extremely disgusting attitudes by the two staff on the front desk. They were more than happy to take payment FIRST, then rudely told to get outside in the cold, even after advising and presenting proof of mask exemption. This is legally the end of the conversation. Reading through the reviews, it's evident that the fryer also gets very aggressive and tells people not to come back, and that they have no clue about the law, as presented on the official Gov UK website. This used to be an excellent place to visit in the village when the restaurant was open, but took a huge dive once the experienced friendly staff had enough and all left. We've supported this place religiously for many years, and it's quite sad typing this out, but it's the last time they receive any of my business. Judging by the reviews (one left just minutes ago by another lady) there will be many more going elsewhere. No change of policy/training will convince any of us to go in there again now, the damage has already been done.I'd suggest people support a superior place just down the road, with the villages name in their title ;)Edit: Their reply suggests it was done for safety and in a polite manner, but firstly, the gobby response from the person behind the counter confirms that wasn't the case. Secondly, the fryer didn't realise that we heard his foul language and door slamming outside. Don't be fooled by the 'caring' response, not one single member of staff had one on.
