Lovely cafe, great location and some fab food make it a regular spot for me to watch the world go by over a ☕️

Visited the cafe with the family. Cafe is in a good location to relax and watch the world go by. Unfortunately the lovely exterior and interior of this cafe did not match the service we experienced. Only ordered beverages and a cake and was very disappointed. The latte ordered was wrong (missing the syrup) but not the end of the world, it was still ok. The milkshakes were half full with milkshake the other half squirted cream, not sure if this is how it is suppose to be! The big issue was a cake ordered did not arrive with the drinks. I left it 10 mins and asked where the cake was only to be told they were busy (not sure what their definition of busy means, as the cafe had a few tables empty). This was late in the day with few people in the cafe, the cake only had to be taken from the display cabinet and brought out!. A task which I believe takes 2 mins. 20 mins had passed went into the shop to find all 4 girls chatting behind the counter, requested the cake I had ordered only to be asked by the same girl who had served me not more than 30 minutes ago ' have you paid for it?'. Then had to run through my bill to reassure the young girl I had. It was this moment that I became dissatisfied with the service. The cake wasn't the best, but my daughter was happy with it.There is grounds for improvement in service and staff attitude. I could make excuses for their level of service and say it was late afternoon I went in the cafe, it was busy (when it wasn't) or it had possible been a busy day for the staff and they were tired or there was young girls managing the coffee shop but they would be poor excuses as I had only ordered drinks and a cake not a meal. A shame as the exterior of the shop gives you a positively false illusion of how your experience will be. Hope improvements are made has it is a very nice cafe both inside and out.

Lovely little cafe, food very tasty. However, all this place needs to run better is table numbers or some form of number system in place (maybe something you could take to your table when you've placed your order) to help the staff know which food and drink goes to which table. In the short time I spent there today, staff members looked so confused going around asking people who ordered what, almost asking everyone each time. Our food also got taken to the wrong table and set down, resulting in the people touching the food and the staff remaking our order. Lovely staff, very apologetic and helpful, however, they looked a little flustered because of the current system. Would recommend for the food, but until this is remedied I would be more inclined to choose somewhere else.

Friendly service and the food came really quickly. The food was tasty too.

This is a decent enough little place. The latte was superb and the panini was tasty. The menu is quite basic and for me, it's a little lacking in space to allow dogs. A dog at the next table was yapping all the time, which was a bit annoying. Fair enough, it's a dog friendly cafe and, yes, we could have gone somewhere else. A nice place though!

Good place to grab a coffee. Small selection of cakes and pastries but very good. Great friendly staff.

Really lovely little cafe on the corner of the square in Hebden Bridge. Simple, comforting food made well and priced appropriately. Lovely atmosphere. A great place to sit people watching on a grey day with a drink. I also enjoyed the rustic, homemade decor vibe and the simplicity of the menu. Will go again.

Called in for some lunch, after a misunderstanding about a need for the chicken burger to be completely dairy free, which, l may add, the young lady quickly replaced and refused any extra payment, this meal and my filled to the brim ham sandwich were incredibly tasty and excellent value.Fresh food and brilliant service, what's not to like about the Square One Cafe. Highly recommended.

The food and tea was lovely and staff were friendly and polite but the experience was spoiled by a member of staff sweeping the wooden stairs directly at the side of our table whilst we were eating. Shame.Edited to correct spelling mistake and reply to owners comment. Thank you for your reply. I'm well aware of the result of sweeping a surface. I'm always grateful to see clean premises but I would have thought creating airborne foreign bodies, feet from open food would be a basic no no in a good business. I did not mention it to the member of staff as I wouldn't want to interfere with her training as I thought this would have been one of the first things that would have been explained to her.
