The Bear Cafe-Bar in Calderdale

Visited on Sunday afternoon and tempted by the sharing platter...what a mistake. Stale bread, fortunately not generous quantity, stale samosas, pitiful helping of cooked meats and stale cheese. Maybe just a bad afternoon given the other reviews but expensive especially given the very poor quality of food served.Would not recommend.

Good beer, dog friendly, a lovely lady kept bringing hugo treats, and very reasonably priced drinks. A good mix of all ages. Highly recommend.

I love this place. Its probably the best bar in the town centre. Always an interesting selection of cask & keg on.

This friendly little bar boasts a few more unusual offerings (Inc nice Belgians) on cask and keg as well as quaffable session beers to keep the locals well wateredThe knowledgeable barman kept us supplied with all manner of tasty nibbles - nuts, crisps and cheeses are amongst the available munch - be sure to order the smoked nuts!

Always a great bar, but the food menu for lunch is really adventurous and well worth a visit. Had the Sharing Platter with a friend (sort of Mediterranean with meats, cheeses, olives, peppers, salad, houmous, bread, crackers etc. Great value and super tasty. Highly recommended and great friendly service.

Excellent red wine and fantastic meat and cheese platter. Great value for money.
