Disappointing.Booked a table for 2 at 19:30 on a Saturday night. Arrived and were sat in the bar area. Ordered a very nice and well priced bottle of wine and placed our food order. After 40mins finallyShown to our table, pretty starving by now and presented with a tomato velouté amuse bouche to fend off hunger pangs. By nine our starters finally arrived (90 mins in now!). An underwhelming asparagus, bacon and egg combination. Then another 45minute wait for our main course! Waitress apologised - they had a big party up stairs. Why book tables if you haven't got the ability in the kitchen to deliver food in a reasonable time frame? Of course all could have been forgiven but it seems that the kitchen's ability to produce decent food was also lacking - our mains (sea bass and brill) were overcooked and the combination of watermelon, feta and sea bass left a lot to be desired.Fantastic cheese board slightly resurrected the evening.Given previous rave reviews all very disappointing. Maybe it was just a bad night but staff seemed very disorganised. We won't be going back.

Just had a fabulous meal at the new 'the House' restaurants in Scholes. From the unexepected amuse bouche to the beautiful dark chocolate pave pudding it was a feast to the taste buds.I can;t recommend it highly enough - try it!

Disappointing for the last few times, so we went for the tasting menu to try and get a broader choice. All a bit "emperor's new clothes".... pickled mushroom with celeriac and leek? All you could taste was vinegar! Used to be the best restaurant in Yorkshire in my opinion - not anymore.

I confess, I like my food. There's nothing I could fault about this restaurant and I've eaten in some fine restaurants around the world. We arrived without booking to be seated strait away, on what apparently is the reserve table, to be offered an alternate almost immediately. You know what, we stayed put. We were tucked away, still able to hear the live piano music echo up from below, whilst enjoying conversation. Service was spot on from start to finish. As for the food, as I've said I'm a bit of a foody, and there was nothing I would change and certainly nothing to fault. Well cooked and presented food in just the right sized portions. We will most certainly be returning soon and I urge you to done same. By thwarting time we left the place was having so we'll probably book next time to avoid the only disappointment they could manage, what is to be full and not fit us in!
