The Hare And Hounds in Calderdale

Beautiful food, sat outside. The outside needs a bit of tlc, grass cut, tables sanding and painting. The food made up for that.

Friendly staff. Good choice on menu. Lovely food. Will go again. (beer a tad pricey but I suppose that's a sign of the times)

Meals were excellent. Couldn't fault quality and portion size. Coffee machine was not working and they didn't have bottled water so one of our group couldn't have a drink

We have lived in the village for 2 years and twice we have tried to go here for a meal, both during food service hours, once at mid day and once on an evening, unfortunately both times we have been told there is no food service with no explanation as to why so I am afraid I won't be trying again.... I suggest instead that you take a short walk down to The Tannery for delicious tapas and a lovely atmosphere!

Arrived to be greeted by pleasant chap behind the bar, shown to table. Another guy came to take our order (wearing his flat cap) and asked us to hurry up and order as they were expecting a large group in (no table set for large group). Main course was nice, offered dessert menu but then returned to say they had no desserts as they make every dessert fresh, I’ve never come across anywhere preparing cheesecake or ice-cream from scratch before. Needless to say, the large group never arrived. So in conclusion, food that we did order was nice, but disappointed about the lying and lack of desserts which spoiled the experience for me. Sorry, I don’t get out often and expect perfect!

We stopped over for a quick lunch on our way to Yorkshire Dales. I had one of the best chicken ever.Service was very good. Highly recommended. Dog friendly. 🐕

Really good home cooked food and nice friendly staff

It was the first time we have dined there since being taken over and we were blown away. The food was incredible - not a single thing could have been improved about it. The kids meals were really good too and we had very pleased stomachs when we left. Definitely going to be dining there again.

We went for the tasting menu - it was Ok, nice presentation and perfectly edible, but some of the flavours were out of place and some were just a bit bland. We might come back for the full menu as that looked good.
