The New Hobbit Restaurant in Calderdale

Lovely place! View is gorgeous, you can sit outside and see out over a valley. Room was beautiful, spotless and super comfy bed. Had dinner there and a few drinks, tasty and reasonably priced. Staff were great!

The hotel was warm, the rooms were clean and the staff were friendly. The food was the problem. We stayed 3 nights and had 3 bad meals. The first night the carrots were actually burnt black, the second night we went for pork and leek pie and I think we counted 5 bits of meat in a very soggy pastry pie and the 3rd night the plate the fish and chips came on was cold leaving the meal cold after about 4 minutes. Nice hotel very dissapointing food.

Lovely little hotel with great views and friendly staff.Food was very good. Buffet breakfast was great with plenty to choose from. Had to wait a few minutes for fried eggs but they were delivered to our table by Vikki. What a beautiful personal touch.Thanks New Hobbit we will visit again.

Nice Hotel overlooking Sowerby Bridge. Nice decor although a little kitch but nothing inoffensive. Room with balcony are £111 per night but ours had chunks of plaster off the wall and paint scuffs. Only provided 1x Mercure hotel shower gel obviously nicked by the owner on a trip abroad. Max worth paying £70/night.

Lovely little hotel with decent menu and 2 cask ales on the bar. The only downside for us was that our stay coincided with a wedding reception. Too many small children running around. That said, the staff did try several times to get them to behave but parents should have taken more control.

My partner and I stayed here as early valentines trip together from 7th untill 11th was a wonderful place.Staff are lovely and friendly especially a young lady who checked us in.We ate here to nights as food was really tasty an good choice.Breakfast was really good to not massive choice and yummy cooked English breakfast with fruit yogurts cereals toast and crossiants juice and tea and coffees it was in my opinion better not to have to many options as less waste.The room was lovely really spacious with a huge bed. only downside was the bathroom was very tiny but it did what was required excellent deal on travelzoo we would come back as also great location an close to Halifax an hebden bridge. Thank you for a lovely relaxing time.

Lovely little hotel, we would stay there again. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is really excellent fine dining.

Lovely homely room with great views. Some staff very friendly and efficient, couple of younger girls seemed inexperienced(?) and didn't speak, forgot cutlery etc. Some meals would be greatly overpriced had we not had a Deal. I was still appalled by the chicken breast (shrivelled) and dauphinnoise potato (Literally less than one potato!) Too hot in room even with window open and fan on in December! This would stop us from returning, and the steep narrow roads would put us off in icy conditions. Glad we were able to choose any starter and main from menu each night in the deal and most of the food was pleasing.

A very pleasant surprise. Nice clean, spacious rooms at a very reasonable price. Great location to visit the surrounding area. Food was well presented, delicious and reasonably priced. Very friendly, helpful staff. I'll definitely be coming back. The apple and rhubarb crumble was the best I have ever tried.

We stayed at The New Hobbit over a wedding weekend and the staff were most accommodating and pleasant. Food and service was great. Room was lovely and homely with everything we needed. Only thing the hotel would benefit from is air con - it was very warm in the room, even with a fan. Overall would highly recommend.
