The Village Restaurant in Calderdale

Me and my wife went Saturday 19th March. It was my birthday so wanted to go out for a nice meal. We were looking at a few places to go but picked village and glad we did. We went all out with popadoms pickle tray. 3 starters which we shared. Main meal each & garlic nan & chapatis. The food was hot & tasty. And the service was excellent for us 10/10 overall. The next time we go for a curry this will be our 1st choice. So thanks to the village for ending my birthday with a lovely meal 👍

BEST INDIAN in Sowerby Bridge and surrounding areas for miles, Always hot and fresh never had a bad meals from the Village. If anyone fancies a proper curry then go to the Village the service is outstanding and welcoming. Definitely my favourite Indian.

Food is excellent but the service is extremely slow. No napkins, no water. Staff aren't very attentive. Such a shame as the food is delicious. If you are in a rush don't bother.Also cash only 🤔

Been visiting this restaurant for many years as loyal customers.We have always been treated really well, the food and service second to none.On a recent Sunday evening visit we were made to feel that a large party that were in the restaurant on a late Christmas party were much more important as they would be spending a substantial amount of money, we get this.What we don't get is the fact that there were 4 adults and around 16 to 18 teenagers, the majority of them unruly, standing and walking on seats, throwing food and constantly shouting and yelling.There was a lot of alcohol for these teenagers that did not look old enough to drink. We were led to believe they all worked together somewhere and the adults were the bosses, they ought to be ashamed.We were moved to a table away from the party but they were that rowdy it didn't make much difference.We could not enjoy our meal so we left after telling the managers we were appalled that they had condoned this behaviour. Shame this restaurant is allowed to be spoiled and influenced by a large sitting.Whilst many may say its the party causing the issue the management could have intervened. If it was our first impression of the restaurant we certainly would not be going back

fantastic place and raja went above and beyond to get us seated asap. made a table for 4 suitable for 5 of us for our starters and then moved us to a bigger table when one became avaliable. top guy and thank you for the special you recommended it was beautiful... 10/10

We have had takeaways from village most weekends in the last 2 years. They are constistantly gorgeous and 8 look forward to Saturdays for this reason. Totally recommend this restaurant also to eat in .

Really hard working and friendly staff plus amazing specialist vegetarian options (seperate from the main dishes). Bring your own booze too with no corkage charge which is always good. Would definitely come back again.

Had an amazing meal staff were extremely helpful, polite the restaurant has had an upgrade and looks stunning. We are a family of 5 visiting Halifax for a wedding. This really was a great evening.

Just had very disappointing takeaway from The Village. We chose delivery and it was half an hour later than they first said it would be. An item was also missed off our order. The food itself was very poor - sloppy tikka masala, which was a tiny amount of chicken swimming in a vivid pink coloured sauce. Pickles were like they had been watered down - thin and runny. Won't be ordering from here again.

Used to frequent every week but alas it's not the same. Food was average and the service the same - long wait for food whilst they dealt with takeaways.
