Two friends and I booked into this hotel in March time, about 4 months before our stay, for one night to go to a concert. We arrived and the doors were locked. We knocked and some sort of “manager” came out and told us they had been “closed for renovations” since December. We later found out that it’s a refugee holding. We hadn’t received a refund, or been contacted in any way to be told that the hotel didn’t actually exist anymore, so we were stranded 3 hours from home with no where to stay. This hotels embarrassing excuse for organisation meant that we could still book it 3 months after they had closed and they are STILL available to book through google, hotels.com and booking.com despite being completely closed to outside customers. We told this “manager” our frustration and anger and the complete lack of incompetence we had received, only to be told to leave with no help whatsoever to find a new place to stay. I strongly suggest that this pathetic justification for a hotel makes a conscious effort to practice some coordination as I would not wish this experience on anyone else.

Terrible experience with this establishment. Booked months in advance to stay a night for a friend's wedding. They cancelled on the Monday before the wedding. The male member of staff couldn't have sounded more uninterested if he tried. Really left us stuck. Ended up staying at a Travelodge for ÂŁ100 for a night as they were the only place with reservations.Discussed this with many other guests at the wedding some had expressed the same treatment. After speaking to some staff there they explained that the hotel are calling guests to say the boiler has broken and that they're staying shut for renovations when instead they're full booked with refugees and have closed as they're now fully booked. Not impressed and would not recommend this shambles of a hotel to anyone.

My wife and i booked this hotel for one night as a treat we had travelled some distance to get to Halifax. On arrival we were told the hotel was closed due to a boiler breakdown I said why weren't we informed his answer was SORRY that's it.as we started walking away we saw lots of people through the windows and on further investigation we found the hotel to be closed as its full of afgan refugees staying long term for free with food and heating. The government is paying ÂŁ150per person per night and 7k per month for upkeep and yet they are still taking British peoples money online for bookings.Anyone looking to book google the hotel and add refugees and its there for you to see unfortunately we didn't know and they took out moneyAVOID

And again. Still no refund from them.We paid for a family room. Got just a double room and was told we would be given the difference in price for the rooms which was £20 and they’ve still not done that.Cigarette burns in the bath and a broken sink which was glued back together. The thing had a couple of channels that worked. Oh and for two people staying we only had one mug.I’m still waiting for this refund issue to be resolved. Hope to hear back soon. Thanks.

Clean hotel, 5 minutes walk from Halifax town centre. Staff was polite and friendly. The room was clean, the shower had a little mold in one of the corners but nothing major. I would've given 5 stars but ....Evening meal was very nice, steak cooked to.medium, every thing good to that point, waiting for another drink before dessert,no body came round asking if you wanted anything else, when we did get the attention of the lad who was on asked if we could have another drink to be told you have to go to the bar, So if you haven't finished your meal and wanting another drink you would have to let meal go cold. The rediculas thing about it though they bring the first drink, and they bring water. The dessert was also very good. Breakfast is continental or full English, again all cooked to a fairly high standard. The car park is small, and if you are not careful could end up on the main public carpark. Would I go back? ....if need arose then the answer would be yes.

Dirty room, very poor breakfast both in quality and service.Yes it's cheap but it sure reflects it.A shame because front of house is very good.I left a face drawing in the dirt on the window glass.Be interested to know if it is still available.Pattern on painted dressing table black with dirt.Overall a very unkempt room.Cleaners must have hovering dusters.Bathroom not very clean also.Definitely would not stay here again.Sorry.

Staff were impeccably dressed. The guys on reception were lovely. It's a big old building with lots of rooms. It looks as though it's due a revamp, but In this current climate, the room was clean, comfortable, spacious and airy. The bath was big and deep and the towels were fluffy and clean. Breakfast was down stairs, and attention to service was lovely. Something you don't always get nowadays ... Nothing was to much trouble. Definitely worth the money..

What an absolutely lovely hotel. It isn’t the Ritz, but it doesn’t pretend to be - it’s honest, unpretentious and laid back. The furnishings are welcoming and comfortable and the staff are delightful, without exception. The food is delicious and very nicely presented, served in a cosy restaurant that is subtly classy. Breakfast is very good, with a big variety and range available. It’s well placed for visiting the Yorkshire Dales and most definitely worth considering if you’re visiting there area.

Only stayed a night, but I still enjoyed staying here a lot. It's conveniently near to the Piece Hall, the train station and other attractions I wanted to check out before I left in the morning.Checking in and out was easy, the staff are happy to help and the room was very affordable, which was great for my budget adventure around West Yorkshire! Definitely worth a stay here
