A bit suspicious about the reviews claiming that the food and service were excellent as that wasn't our experience at all. In fact this is probably the worst Indian restaurant we've been to. There was just no friendly welcome of any sort when we arrived. We wanted the set menu for minimum of two people and the waiter didn't have a clue about what that meant and tried to convince us to buy all our dishes separately (which we didn't do). The main dishes were way below par with very little lamb to find and what we did find was fatty cheap meat with a tiny bowl of rice and 1 naan between us. Coffee and mints were included in the deal but we had to point that out to the waiter and we never saw the mints. The young waiters were pleasant enough but the older men that stood behind the bar doing very little need to seriously brush up on their 'friendly' skills. They seemed to create an odd atmosphere. We won't be going back and wouldn't recommend it to anyone who likes to receive good service, food and atmosphere for their money. Felt like a mickey take to be honest.

Such a shame to see a once-decent Indian dining experience turn into a pretty poor show. Poor service, mediocre presentation but decent food.On arrival, we were greeted by staff who were clearly rushed off their feet. We weren't offered a drink while we had to wait for the table to be ready. The restaurant had plenty of bright lights which made for quite an odd ambience.Once at the table, some of us had cutlery and some of us didn't. Popadoms and pickle tray came out fairly quickly which was good but let down by being served in plastic takeaway tubs with not a huge amount in them. Had to ask for more to serve the number of people on our table.Drinks came but two of them clearly weren't the beers we'd ordered so had to go back to the bar to get them changed. All the food we ordered came quickly and, in fairness, was delicious. This was the positive part of the experience. Small let down that some onion bhajis that were ordered as part of the main course came out initially as a starter (despite no one else ordering a starter). That and the fact that the staff hadn't cleared the plates away from the pops and pickle tray starter so we had to put them aside to receive our fresh plates for the main course! The final let down was asking for a dessert. The waiter went off to get us the dessert menus then the owner/manager had a word with him to say that they weren't serving desserts tonight. They could have had another £5-10 a head from us if they had done so.All in all, it's the service that stinks and frustratingly that's something that should be easily fixed to match the excellent food. We wouldn't go back again.

The staff are very friendly. The menu is interesting. The location is great — being right on the canal.Years ago, the Aagrah seemed to be about fine dining Indian, whereas now it just seems like your standard curry house. The onion bhajis are just onion rings, and the chicken in my dish was really quite dry. That said, the flavours are good. It's great for a group of friends. But, overall, there are better places to go for a curry in Skipton.

Called in this restaurant as the web site had some good reviews. On arrival, we were greeted by a couple of waiters and were given a nice table for 2 in the corner of the restaurant.First impressions were nice and friendly and the restaurant looked clean and spacious although the lighting was a little too bright for our liking but I suppose that's personal preference. My wife ordered a Chicken Makanni and I ordered a Chicken Balti. We ordered a couple of plain poppadoms and the pickle tray and vegetable pilau rice with a pashwari Naan.Waiter brought a jug of water and service was very efficient.Poppadoms arrived and were nice and crispy but the pickle tray arrived and each condiment was served in plastic containers which didn't look very professional. The contents of the pickle tray were tastless and watery too.Main courses arrived and looked well presented. The Peshwari Naan however looked like a larger version of a chippati with slices of pineapple and raisins on covered in a sticky glaze. Looked more like a small pizza and didnt have any coconut on which is what you expect.Vegetable pilau rice was okay with a generous portion served in a metal bowl.My Chicken Balti was very hot and spicy and the chicken was cut into shreds and very dry. Never known a Balti to be so hot in spice? My wife's Chicken Makanni was again shreds of dry chicken in a sauce which I can only describe as an after taste of Dentine chewing gum!!.Meal was very disappointing compared to the good reviews on this site.Had to ask 3 times for the bill to arrive and eventually had to go up to the bar and pay at the counter.Staff behind the bar never once asked if the food and everything was okay.Didn't even get a thankyou for coming which made my mind up about the attitude of the environment. My overall view is what could have been a lovely restaurant set in a lovely location was they seem to concentrate more on the decor than making the food rememorable.Very disappointed and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The 1 star i have had to give it to get my review put on this site.

Good food. Few parking spaces at the front. Needs more herbs and spices for my liking. But overall nice atmosphere and good experience.

Been a long time since I've been to a Aagrah and was glad I did, food was tasty and plentiful. Staff were nice and chatty and checked several times to see if everything was ok. I'll definitely be trying Aagrah again but probably nearer to home.

Terrible. Not great food. Soft poppadoms. Not nice chutneys. No pickle. Naan bread awful. Pilau rice terrible. Avoid.

Great food, relaxing atmosphere and a nice cool Kingfisher to wash it down, followed by a stroll along the canal. The perfect evening.
