I've just spent a weekend at Beck Hall and it was generally very enjoyable. The location and the building are fantastic, a great great mix of old and new with elements that are both cosy and traditional and bright and fresh. The food was always very good and we enjoyed each meal we had. The staff are also superb and they can't do enough to help, they are genuinely a cut above average and it's good to see that the Owners of Beck Hall treat them properly. The only down side for me, and this is why it gets four stars and not five, is the over-dog-friendliness of the place. There are simply too many dogs, there are 21 rooms and only 2 of them don't allow dogs. That means potentially 19 or more dogs! During my stay there were probably over a dozen dogs and it felt like a waiting room in a vet's rather than a reasonably upmarket hotel. Does dog friendly really have to mean people having an evening in a restaurant with a dog under their feet? Would a cycle friendly hotel mean that people's bikes would have to be within the owner's sight at all times? can't the dog stay in their bedroom during meal times? there were dogs on furniture (a big ginger pointer that belonged to a noisy woman who was there for her birthday), People sitting with their dogs in the sofas next to them, dogs barking at each other (in the restaurant at breakfast and during dinner) and dogs barking when people entered a room (as we came into the snug from our room up stairs). Apparently there was a time when dogs were only allowed in the snug, perhaps there could be a place where dogs aren't allowed. Not everyone likes dogs and whilst it's advertised as dog friendly it really seems to be Beck Hall's 'thing' it's beyond dog friendly and is almost a hotel full of dogs. I'd call in for a lunch time sandwich again but probably wouldn't stay there again because of the dog situation.

The PERFECT place to stay in Malham. Gorgeous rooms, the food is amazing and it's got a lovely outside garden. We stayed there for 2 nights with our dog and will definitely be coming back.

Great little hotel in a very popular village. Located over the beck and accessed by a quaint footbridge. Has an excellent restaurant and attentive staff. We seemed to be the only guests without a dog but despite this they didn't bother us and were very well behaved. The only downside was the fact that the room was too hot and we could not cool it down which did lead to a disturbed night's sleep.

3 star? More like 5 star. Service, staff, location, food and everything else about the place including the place and walks was just amazing. Such a pleasant and memorable stay. How the dogs are just treated as good as us humans, I am so overwhelmed with this hotel . Thank you to the amazing kind staff and a memorable stay to say the least!Natalie Morley and OMAR, Winston and Lola

Stopped here for lunch today, highly recommended. Staff were absolutely excellent, and so accommodating of both baby and dog! Food was delicious, lots of vegan options. Amazing location, beautifully decorated, warm and a lovely place to relax after a walk around Malham Cove.

Would highly recommend this place. Ideal location, fairly priced and great food. Staff were really helpful. Maybe not the place for you if you don't like dogs. Room was immaculate and nicely decorated.

My wife and I stayed at Beck Hall for our honeymoon and we had a wonderful time.We booked because the restaurant had plenty of vegetarian options and it didn't disappoint. The snug, however, was the highlight; with an open fire, it was a lovely space to unwind with a drink after a day of walking.Due to a COVID incident, we weren't able to eat in the restaurant every night of our stay, but the staff was very accommodating and booked us into a nearby pub.Our room was also good sized and clean so no complaints. The hotel is in a great location for walks and only an hour and a bit away from the Lake District.Would definitely stay again.

Lovely little hotel in a beautiful spot next to the river. Incredibly dog friendly. Very attentive and friendly staff. Open fires. Great food in the restaurant and good hearty breakfasts. Some rooms a tad on the small side but all very nicely done and clean.
