Had called the hotel on Thursday to see if we could book a table in the beer garden for Friday evening. The telephone manner of the owner/manageress was very condescending "you cannot book a table in the beer garden, it is first come, first served. And anyway, we don't serve food in the garden." Ok. Off to a great start. So we booked a table inside for 6pm. The meals were VERY basic and beige. Not worth £15 per meal. Had to ask for my wife's meal to have peas as were missing from the plate. No apology from the manageress again. Just took the plate back into the kitchen and returned a few minutes later with some peas. No "is everything alright with your meal?" from anyone and no "would you like any more drinks?" from anyone either. Will not be returning to this place again. Poor service and poor food.

Since moving to the area last year we’ve been trying all the local pubs, restaurants and cafes and without a doubt the Hearts Head is top of the list! Consistently great food, very friendly staff, comfortable and very dog friendly. Nothing is too much trouble and the Sunday dinner is one of the best we’ve had. Very fresh and a very generous portion too! Great, proper gravy which is important, especially in Yorkshire. There’s a place for jus but it’s not on a Yorkshire pudding. If you’re visiting the area, visit The Hearts Head.

Didn’t stay over but had a fabulous Sunday Roast!! Sublime Roast Beef with the biggest Yorkshire Pudding ever, perfectly cooked fresh veg and a puddle of beef gravy. Followed up by Apple Crumble with custard which had a delicious buttery-crunchy topping.

Lively, welcoming hotel. The host make you feel welcome. Dog friendly! The room was modern and very clean. Food delicious. Good choice on the menu and also caters for vegetarians. Breakfast is continental with a good choice. We would definitely stay again.

Food lovely but not really customer friendly. Served locals before people queueing at the bar. Had a meal and were never asked how the food was or if we required anything else after the main course, not that we would have but it would have been nice to be asked. When we left the staff never even looked up and said goodbye even though we were practically the last people there. Customer service and politeness in the hospitality industry is everything!

This was a very short but wonderful trip for my husband and I. The food, rooms, ambience and hospitality was exceptional. We plan on returning soon just so that we can experience the hotel and surroundings in a more relaxed time frame. I cannot recommend this hotel enough.

Lovely pub/hotel. Rooms spacious and very clean. All the usual amenities. It was very cold outside, raining and windy, but the heating was on virtually all the time and it was very, very cozy. In the bar was a lovely wood burning fire. Personnel were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The breakfast was more than substantial and set you up for the day. Evening meals were available. Very good at reasonable prices. Will be coming again and will recommend to friends. Congratulations to our hostess for making us feel so at home, to the chef for the great meals and all the staff for going that extra mile. Just give it a try!

The new manager Amanda went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and right at home. The little extras like bottled water and orange juice available at all hours were much appreciated. The breakfast was good and the coffee was excellent. One best lattes I have had in some time. We will return to the Hart’s Head when visiting the Dales again. We highly recommend this lovely inn and pub for its generous hospitality and beautiful setting.

Enjoyed a nice Sunday lunch here recently. There was plenty of parking, the staff were friendly and helpful and crucially for us the pub was child and dog friendly. We were holidaying in the area and could not leave the dog in our holiday accommodation so needed a pub that was happy to accept our 4 legged friend. The food was good, my wife and I both had beef roast dinners and our Son the child's version of the same. My daughter had a burger from the kids menu. No complaints about either of the kids meals, both were good quality and sizeable portions for the price (roughly £6 each) and it was nice that they offered a junior Sunday Lunch, loads of pubs don't. I had a nice pint of local bitter too which was excellent. Both my Wife and I felt that our meals were good but not quite worth the £12.95 price. There wasn't quite enough veg and the spuds were only so-so. Forgiveable at a lesser price but for £13 we had hoped for slightly better. Likewise the general surroundings of the pub, while perfectly pleasant, felt more like a £9 a main meal kind of place rather than a £12-15 for a main sort of establishment. To caveat that though, we were sitting in the bar because of the dog, the main dining room may well have been plusher. The kids had ice cream puddings which were affordable and lovely, my wife and I shared a Yorkshire cheese board which was again of good quality but the selection and amount of food on the plate didn't really justify the £9 price.Overall we enjoyed our experience here and would visit again if in the area. Just would give the Pudding menu a miss.
