Oh, how I’ve longed to write this review! I’ve dropped by a good number of pubs in this country but few have managed to impress me as much as this one.First things first, the location if stunning, in the heart of a pretty, fashionable village in the middle of the countryside in Yorkshire Dales. It has a cute beer garden behind whicj breaths of outdoor and nature. They have two heated booths which came handy in a mid-April evening :)The vibe at the pub is joyful, always busy but well taken care of. The pub is run by a family for decades and they are adorable! Despite being packed, owner still had the time to step by and say hi and check-in with me a few times, given I was solo traveling. As a matter of fact, all the staff was very friendly and polite and helpful. Despite my arrival in the middle of a fully-booked packed Friday night, they still strived to find me a good place and serve me a delicious lamb chop! The ale is fantastic too, IPA is local, couldn’t recommend it enough! Before I wrap, I do want to sing some praises to the bakery too. It’s up front and opened until very late in the evening so one can still purchase bread and a large selection of goodies! The chef at the bakery and at the restaurant is French and he even dropped by to say hi during my next morning grab-something-before-my-hike :) All the deserts I tried were exquisite!Needless to say, I repeated the experience on Saturday night as well and plan to visit again as soon as I’m in the area again. Absolutely lovely people!

Beautiful location, tables outside the front and a massive beer garden to rear with some heated booths. Lovely staff, great choice of drinks. The food must be amazing too as restaurant was extremely busy. Totally dog friendly too. Once your in you won't want to leave. Will visit again when we can and hopefully eat here too.

Great staff lovely location and decent drink selection. We didn't try the food as we already ate but it must be good as restaurant area was extremely busy. Dogs are welcome and there's two outdoor seating areas. The one out back has lots of tables and seats. Also a few heated cubicle tables.

Proper good country pub with a log burning fire, sweet aroumas from the kitchen and restaurant area, accompanied by really friendly patrons and staff. The pub area is small but super cozy and dog friendly. Be warned as I was, that to get a table to eat in the restaurant you'll more often than not need to book in advance. Has a bakery too, which my client also highly recommends

Quality cuisine and enthusiastic staff. A little fancy for my rustic disposition but I enjoyed my visit greatly. Good beer too

Thwaites is not my ideal pint but it was lovely. The most impressive aspect of this pub were the staff. Working in the customer service industry I was massively impressed with their exemplary service - nothing was too much

Friendly staff, excellent food. Cosy pub!. Even has its own bakery, we purchased some tarts to takeaway. We dropped by after a long hike and so happy we did. Would highly recommend!

Squeezed us in without booking on Friday evening. The staff were absolutely lovely, welcoming, friendly (even to our dog) and we're super proud / knowledgeable about the amazing menu. Baked scallops to start - divine!!! Would highly recommend. And the deserts, French patisserie inspired ❤️

Lovely pub, we only had drinks but the food smelled amazing and looked really nice. We’ll make sure to book for a meal next time. Very friendly and accommodating staff on a cold snowy day!

This is a quaint little pub serving a wide selection of ales, wines and spirits, which has a terrific reputation locally. The food we had was very very good. However, on the downside, the initial service was excellent but after we had been served our main course the waiting staff seemed to abandon us. We have yet to be offered a dessert menu and after waiting so long we decided not to order a dessert and we left. This place is exceptionally busy but there is no excuse for losing sight of your customers. I normally tip quite well for good service but on this occasion I just paid the bill and we left. Can't fault the food, which is why it gets a four star rating. If the service had been better it would have gotten a five star, such a shame as clearly a lot of effort has gone into the quality of the food on offer. Perhaps the owner needs to make his staff aware of needing to keep their eyes on the ball.
