Cumberland in Doncaster

Brilliant atmosphere in here, there is a good outside seating area, well away from the road so the kids can run round to their hearts content. Lot's of people where eating inside, so I assume the food is good, for some they want you to pay for drinks before they are served to you, I wanted a hot drink but the machine wasn't working, I was given a refund and the offer off another drink.

Had the Sizzler but unfortunately rather than sizzling it was charcoal!Edit: originally gave a one star, however I was contacted by the manager after and offered free meals for me and my partner. The manager went out of his way to make everything perfect on our second visit and the food was lovely. We will definitely be returning.

First time I have been here for a few years. Pleasantly surprised. Lovely welcoming staff. Fab atmosphere. Had some sides to share & coffee. Value for money....will be back to try their breakfast...👍😁

Went for the first time since it’s refurbishment. The decor & atmosphere was lovely. Food excellent & Vicky was amazing. Very friendly & helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend.

The place looks really nice after the refurb but more importantly, the food and service are great. The staff are friendly and helpful and unlike any pub chef I've personally ever come across, James can actually cook a steak the way you order it. It's a nice pub with good food and a pleasant, relaxing atmosphere, heartily recommend.

James the manager is fantastic, hospitality comes naturally. Friendly, warm and welcoming. One of the best pubs in Doncaster, especially since the refurbishment. Lovely outdoor area ideal for the summer.

Ordered via the app. There seemed to be issues with the table numbers as whilst we were waiting 50 minutes for our food we saw a number of serving staff trying to find the correct tables to take food to. When food eventually came the waitress bypassed our table twice as she had a totally incorrect table number, and I had to follow her around the outdoor dining area to get the food brought to us. When it arrived it was lukewarm. Never again.

Think the refurb is beautiful and the atmosphere is great. Staff are always polite and accommodating. I would say I was disappointed by a group that “booked a table” complaining to staff because they didn’t have the right table size for the group even though they don’t do a table to fit that many. The staff moved the tables to accommodate them and still they moaned.I look forward to coming back soon

My wife and myself were invited to a pre-opening evening following a well needed makeover, and I can honestly say it’s the best the pub’s looked in the fifty years I have frequented the place. The layout and decor make the pub look warm and inviting, and combined with the decent food and excellent service provide by the cheerful and efficient staff, it made for a really pleasant evening all round. There’s still quite a bit of work to do in the outside areas, but when completed, I have no doubt that ‘The Cumberland’ will feature as one of the best pubs in South Yorkshire.

Had the pleasure of a cheeky meal here. Wasn't planning, but I was early picking my son up. Staff looked after me and sorted a table out. Young lass, think her name was Ellie (cool hair), was very pleasant and always smiled ...... Good to see in these uncertain times.
