Horse and Groom Armthorpe in Doncaster

This is a lovely 'old fashioned' pub. It feels so nice to have a pub that actually looks and feels like a pub. The do some lovely meals and I have always found the staff to be cheerful and friendly. I would recommend this to anyone who, like me, wants a homely and friendly place.

Great food but it took a while to get the food to our table

Called ahead to check if dog friendly (yes, in the bar). A table had been set for us in advance. Lovely friendly service. Freshly brewed coffee just for us. Fab meal (beer battered onion rings were particularly good). Spotlessly clean with hand gel stations near the door. Well done Horse & Groom.

Food took just under an hour and 45 minutes to arrive, we ended up eating at around 9:40pm, we ordered at 8pm. They told us there was going to be a 45 minute wait after we had ordered, if we knew before hand, we could have gone somewhere else. We all ended up not eating much of our food because we all didn’t feel up to eating considering how late it was getting. The manager and bar staff themselves were apologetic and just told us that it was because the kitchen is tiny and they had a big booking of 20, not a very good excuse. They shouldn’t take big bookings if they can’t handle it. The food did look nice however we all just couldn’t manage to eat it.

Fantastic. Dining on busy saturday evening, great service. Slight delay on food, but kept informed all way through. Food great, staff awesome and enthusiastic. Thoroughly enjoyed 😊

Portions are tiny had a table spoon of mash on my dinner, took a long time between courses. Over charged by £70+ was sorted in the end, food was ok only reason it has two stars and not one

Fantastic little pub! Wasn't expecting a DJ and disco on Christmas Eve but wow, great selection of music which all added to the real family atmosphere! What an amazing way to spend the evening!

Nice food, good atmosphere and friendly staff

Enjoyed a lovely lunch today with my friend. The food was lovely, staff very friendly. Would highly recommend 👌
