Called for a drink which was very pleasant. We were able to sit outside and for families there is a small play area for children. The bar staff were friendly and the atmosphere was nice.

We decided to have a quick bite to eat as this place has always been known for quality food. However this visit was very disappointing as the food orders took over an hour to get to our table, which when you have waited that long, it makes you feel disinterested in the food.Success is good, but at what cost? In the service industry (I was in it for 17yrs) you are known by your goods (in this case the food) and the service, not the excuses "Sorry for the delay but we are busy!" Maybe a warning before we decided to eat stating there will be a long wait due to how busy the place is, then this way i would have no reason to complain as it was my choce to wait. Was this a one off? We will try again and let you know.Regards, A Disappointed local

I just nipped in for an hour to meet someone. It's a nice, friendly pub (allow dogs too).... Didn't have a meal, but staff kept passing by with dishes which made me want to order !!! Highly recommend 👌

Went out with a group of friends and had the Xmas menu, the food was delicious. I would recommend the mushroom bon bons for starters and the salmon for main.

Really good home cooked food. I had cauliflower bhaji with pickle and raita, followed by haddock and chips in beer batter and it was totally delicious!!! The portions are huge as well. Definitely one to try. If I was being critical, only one type of red wine but otherwise absolutely superb.

Came here for lunch, I used to run a pub in Oxford similar to this and it was like being back home. Food is was amazing and service was great. Only thing I would say is the price it’s very pricey for Yorkshire but I’m not letting that effect the review as I understand the overheads and costs of running a gem like this. Will return again.

I took my nan here for a birthday lunch. I liked the pub, it's quite a traditional style with plenty of parking outside which was handy. It has a good selection of food on the menu which makes it so hard to choose because it all sounds so great. It is really well priced as well. I must admit, we did wait an awfully long time for the food to come out. I think it was close to an hour before it eventually came out. However, the food was delicious. It also was an absolutely huge portion that I couldn't finish. To be honest, I don't think any of us managed to clear our plates.Unfortunately, my nan had a fall on the way out. I don't think it was the fault of the pub though, there wasn't anything for her to fall over. The staff were truly amazing, and tried their best to help that made a huge difference. My only criticism is that there are a few raised bits that my nan struggled to get her walker over, and where we were sat was really far from the disabled toilets. But I don't think that can be helped.Embarrassingly, in the heat of the moment with my nan falling, we all completely forgot to leave a tip! So we will definitely be back, and will definitely be tipping the great service.

Lovely old place. We came here for the Sunday carvery. It was pretty popular at 1:30pm when we got there (it was much quieter at 2pm). You pay for the carvery at the bar and pay for your drinks at the same time. You then queue up. You get a choice of tukey, chicken, gammon pork or beef. They put it on your plate. We wre also asked if we wanted a yorkshire pud or not. There's plenty of vegetable and potato choice which you can pile on your own plate. There is apparently free wifi but the password is nowhere to be seen. Staff were very friendly and courteous. We loved the hanging flower baskets out side the pub. Very good.
