Had Sunday lunch in the carvery, service was great, staff welcoming and polite.I had a large meal which meant I got all 3 meats that were on offer, on the day I was there they were serving roast beef, toast Turkey and roast ham. Each piece of meat was a slab, rather than a slice, and all tasted fantastic, particularly the ham.Veggies were all great and roast potatoes and Yorkshire puds were too. All finished with a really tasty gravy. Two carvery meals and two drinks for £25, good value for money. We'll definitely be going back.

Pleasant staff, nicely cooked food and good choice of vegetables. In spite of digging to the bottom of the carvery dishes of vegetables, they were only just warm, hence the 4 stars instead of 5. Nice puddings.

We came here as a party of 8 for a drink and carvery. It took 15 minutes to get served at the bar because 1 of the 2 bar attendants decided to sit down and have something to eat at the busy time. Finally got our drinks and went to get our carvery. The meats were at the end (thin end) and got 2 slices of meat that you could see through. (Should have been given more meat as it was the end bit). The Yorkshire puddings looked more like small naan breads ( 2cm high). No chef should have put these out. The broccoli was over cooked (mush) the carrots were hard, and the roast potatoes were like they were deep fried. It was the worst food ive ever had. Poor, slow service. I still feel like ive been robbed and annoyed while im writing this review. AVOID.

My wife and 5 friends visited for an evening meal and were very disappointed. They booked for 630pm and arrived on time. Their meal was immediately ordered but was not brought until 750pm and was not up to standard. The chef was called and agreed with the cmments made.

We arranged a funeral wake and from start to finish everything was absolutely perfect. From booking, arranging food to the actual day it was very professionally done. Staff couldn't do enough, constantly bringing through further supplies of food, tea and coffee, they never stopped all afternoon. Plenty of tables and chairs for everyone, made it a very comfortable and pleasant atmosphere from start to finish. We stayed overnight and it was a lovely warm comfortable night made even better by the adjacent kitchenette with everything there you might need. We give you 10/10 and would highly recommend to others.

Cannot praise this visit highly enough. Landlady and chefs were welcoming and friendly. They have a Sunday carvery and the food was really good. Three meats, plenty of vegetables and accompaniments all perfectly cooked. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

·

Overcooked, beige food lacking in flavour. Lovely roast beef on the carvery but sadly that was the only highlight. The bar staff were slow and disinterested being preoccupied with chatting to a regular about how late it got and who did what the night before than serve incoming customers. The telly and the music were clashing in a way that you couldn't understand either.Overall a never to be repeated experience. Sad because we had come to the village with the prospect of buying a house......that would have made us regulars. This will now not happen. This is what happens when there is little or no competition.Poor

First visit on friend's recommendation. Sunday carvery excellent. Will return in near future to sample their regular menu.Only given 4 stars. 5th star will come if regular menu meets same standard, but would certainly recomend it. Staff were great.

·

Excellent food great staff. Not to be missed. Once you have been you will call again. Well done! Going to try the carvery tomorrow I have heard that's great

Having availed myself & grandson to the accommodation we both found itvery comfortable, most pleasant and agreeable. The family room was spacious clean, well heated, and complete with hot drinks facilities, the adjacent afforded the possibility of us making our own food, cereals for breakfast was also available in the kitchen. From booking to departure the staff were helpful & friendly.A place with character not like the 'plastic carbon multiples'Would stay there again? MOST CERTAINLYTo sum it up -- FANTABULOSA!!Lord Brian Leathley - Andrew
