Hallgate Tavern in East Riding of Yorkshire

Sadly, great bar but lacking a teatime trade. No music, outside on a beautiful day, which would create a better atmosphere

When places say they are dog friendly this is the standard they should aim for. But they don't neglect the humans. Food was really very good.

Serves a good pint. Large and spacious. Service is mostly good even with the grunting barman considered (maybe was having a bad day 😄 ).Update: barman still doesn't communicate with words... but the beer is still very good! 😂

Always like coming to this pub. Got so many different areas . You can play pool, have something to eat or just find a quiet corner for a pint. On the last occasion we went to see a band on a Saturday night, great atmosphere been to a few gigs here. Even the landlord was up dancing .

Really nice experience, calm atmosphere, staff dealt with the large amount of customers very well. The place was calm and enjoyable. Would definitely recommend.

Brilliant pub. Lots of screens for sale spirts. With two separate boxes so you can watch 2 games at once! Brilliant food at a very reasonable price. Large selection of drinks, again reasonable price. Amazing staff and landlord Yannis who goes the extra mile to accommodate everything possible. Strongly recommend. 10/10

The bar staff are really well trained and very good at their jobs. The service is fast and efficient with good communications and eye contact. They made me feel very welcome. The hand pulled bitters are really well kept. The landlord makes a special effort with his customers and acknowledges them which makes me feel as if it's a pub I belong in. Top service and good prices.

I like Hallgate, perhaps more than any other pub in Cottingham. The long layout offers ample seating, even on the busiest days. You get different atmospheres depending on where you're sat, some areas are private and ideal for one on one conversation; some are wide open and great for big groups. It's an all purpose pub I can imagine gigs taking place within, as well as the football being shown on the big screen projector. Bar staff have always been helpful and beer selection isn't bad (try the Sunbeam).

A fantastic Chicken and Bacon salad for an incredible £3.75!!! I had a 4oz rump steak salad the other week for just £4.05! Great food at great prices, good beer. Why is this place rammed full of people at lunch time? You can get a proper meal for the price of a sandwich, 12- 5 Pm Monday to Friday. Ham & 2Eggs & Chips, Cauliflower Cheese Tart, Sausage & Mash, Fish & Chips, 5oz Gammon & Egg & Chips, £3.75!!!4oz Rump Steak salad, 4oz Rump Steak Chips Peas & half grilled Tomato £4.05
