Headlands Restaurant in East Riding of Yorkshire

Chips are fried in beef dripping.Vegetable burger marked as vegetarian, but it's not obvious if it was cooked in a veggie friendly wayNo obvious marked vegan options on the menu - bring your own food if you're vegan.Prices OK, maybe a little high (£10 fish and chips, £7 burger, £2 chips).The fish is haddock, and comes with chips and garden/mushy peas.Conveniently next to parking.Very busy, and food took a fair while to come.It'd be sensible for the menu to be revamped, to add more options for those who would buy them - or at the least make it clearer what's vegetarian/vegan.Edit: updated review and changed from 2* to 3* based on fast feedback from the eatery.

Absolutely love visiting here for lunch. The food is always amazing and tastes great! The price is pretty up there ££ but it is totally worth it. The service is great too, there is always a queue when we go but it goes down super quickly and the food never takes too long. There is also fab views along the cliff if you go for a walk after!

Went out for a meal here with my girlfriend to celebrate my birthday. The service was most excellent and the staff were extremely pleasant and friendly. The food was delicious too, I highly recommend the giant Yorkshire puddings!! Thanks again, we will be returning soon.

The Headlands Restaurant was extended last year and now boasts TWO orangeries. Plenty of indoor seating, which was handy on the cold March day we visited!The staff are welcoming and friendly.We've eaten there previously and not been disappointed. The food is all cooked to order and sourced locally. It's a touch on the pricey side, but worth it.But today was a little treat on a grey day.Coffee and banofee cake! A huge slice of cake, almost too much. 😉😁The cafe welcomes well behaved dogs.It's a highlight of a trip to the headland and the lighthouse.

What a location, the views are stunning and walks even better ... along cliff tops, or down to one of the most interesting beach areas .... caves, little areas cut into the cliffs. The walk down to the beach is a little daunting and for many, really tiring. But, if you make it, I iamgine it's the closest walk and feeling I'll ever be able to get to being a Pirate in times gone by! Kids love it. Although the walk down would, I imagine make it impossible to take a pushchair/buggy and unless taking really great care, not suitable for under 7's (give or take and that's just my opinion. On the few occassions I have been to this cafe/restaurant, I have been lucky enough every time to be able to see (from the clifftop and beach) several seals in the water quite close to the beach. On two occassions a seal has been up on the beach. It's such a great feeling to see them.The restaurant? Perhaps the best Fish 'n Chips in Yorkshire ... certainly amongst the very best. The 'Large Haddock 'n Chips' is not for the faint-hearted ... portion control is definitely not part of the kithcen's rules .... it's brilliant. Staff always helpful and friendly. The pricing makes this place excellent value for money. I'd recommend it to anyone of my firends & family, so obviously to those I don't know.(TopTip: Don't try to avoid paying for the parking ... the East Riding Council team make checks at the most unexpected times and in my expereince, never give an inch - or minute).Great place, go if you can ... and then go again.

Great discovery today. Walked the dog and needed warming up. Nice pleasant atmosphere, dog friendly. Good menu with plenty of choice. Fish n chips looked amazing. Steak pie was full of meat and served with chips n mushy peas, partners lunch. Will be back when done with Keto.

Had Christmas Eve lunch here. It was fully open and busy, but with sensible Covid measures in place. We both had haddock in my case grilled with new potatoes and salad. My partner had it traditional fried in batter with chips and mushy peas. Both were excellent and good value. The staff were their usual helpful friendly self's. Once again a great experience.

The staff are not friendly to Asian. The old woman didn't allowed me and my 6 years daughter had a seat in the restaurant. Only can take away. Even there were guests sitting in it. She still said we can't sit in because the restaurant is closed. But when we sat in the car out of the restaurant. We still saw people went into the restaurant and no one came out. What a pathetic person!

We visited whilst being up visiting family.We arrived around 1pm on Saturday. We were quickly given a table for 5 of us. The restaurant was very busy - and unfortunately we had to split over 2 tables.Ordering of food was done quite quickly - with only a short wait for the food to arrive.We'd all gone for the haddock and chips.The batter was a nice golden colour and nice n crispy. The portions were a good size. I had the mushy peas - which were very good.The chips were a bit on the crispy side for my liking- but that could have been due to the fact of how busy it was at the time of our visit. Overall - we left feeling that we'd had yet another good meal here.

Popped in for a quick coffee and tea on Saturday. Delicious latte nice and hot struggled to refuse a piece of cake from the display that looked so fresh. Watched staff member Nathan thoroughly clean table, seats, menu and everything touched by previous customer it gave me confidence as to the cleanliness of the restaurant. Popped to the ladies where that was very clean also. Restaurant is easy for wheelchair disabled and has loads of parking pay and display. Lovely views. Will be back again as we are moving local soon.
