Difficult to beat the view of Hornsea mere from this cafe. Well worth the walk from town. Young, enthusiastic staff. Nice hot drinks. Disappointing scone and butter on the day. One of our "go to" places.

·

Staff are really friendly and wekcoming. Food is good and the coffee is fab!

·

Large and beautiful stretch of inland water. Superb sailing and rowing on a very large and picturesque lake. Lots of wildlife and plenty of outdoor bench seating. Excellent cafe with friendly staff. This place is a must for dinghy sailors to visit.

·

A good place to visit ,and a trip on the motor boat ,not to be missed

·

Been awhile since l visited, it hasn't altered, which is nice in this ever changing world. Good place for a walk, or take a row boat out. Or simply watch the sail boats & waterbirds, a nice cafe as well.

·

Lovely place, although you can't walk around the mere. Instead you'll have a 7 mile walk through some of Hornsea farm land and then a walk on the main road back onto the town, not the best part of the walk.

·

Beautiful views and a nice little walk. Lots of ducks and swans and geese to feed. Lovely little gift shop that sells local items. Cafe serves really nice tasty good quality food, deserts and hot and cold drinks. Recommend a visit.

Really good place to visit especially if you like feeding ducks and geece. The mere has great outlooks so take you camera, the boat trip is worthwhile and the boat hire is cool too. When finished the cafe is great value for coffees and cakes and the food/sandwiches are all home made. Card payment for ease too along with plenty of free parking.

Yorkshire's largest freshwater lake. A mere is a body of water wider than it it is deep, with no river feeding it. Water is from ground drainage.Beautiful place, the sun shimmering on the water and the sunsets are fabulous (gates close early evening).Whats at the Mere:CafeBoathouse - hire and trips (see photos for what's on offer and pricing)Gift ShopHornsea Sailing ClubWater FowlReedbedsMini Putting Green just past the Cafe (currently £3, pay at the Boathouse)Benches (memorial) to sit and relaxAccessibility - long drive in, car park (gravelled and some slopes, people can be dropped off nearer the buildings).
