Lovely meals nice friendly place we must go again

Lovely looking pub but shame about the rude lady on the bar. Myself, my husband and my young children popped in as a half way spot on our 5 mile walk from Pocklington via the canal. Greeted by an unfriendly blonde bar lady, could of had a much more friendly welcome considering it’s a small local village pub, maybe I expected too much but a smile goes along way! We still stayed for 2 drinks to refresh and rest our legs but that’s all we could of had as we was told the pub was booked up for food for another 1.5 hours which I found hard to believe when it wasn’t full or maybe we wasn’t welcome. Definitely a shame as stated as a pub on the Canal walk map and the pub was beautifully decorated and looks the part.

Lunchtime food very disapointing can handle poor food if it was at silly money but when paying the money they charge you'd expect food to be a lot better

Worst place ever! Phoned and told a time, when I called back to ask to sit earlier. They agreed to the earlier time (passing trade)Sat for 15 minutes and ordered drinks, the drinks were fine… On the other hand being asked 5 times if we had booked and talking about us behind our back at the bar, is disgraceful behaviour!The pub was empty with just 3 others in the whole dining area. Approximately 36 dining seats available and we would have been eaten and away within an hour! As we had another 35 minutes to our journey homeThis establishment will not be recommended at all. Dread to think what the food costs would have been (if we’d eaten and it was good, the cost wouldn’t have been a problem) However, £3.60 for half a pint of Coca Cola and £3.80 for a pint of John Smiths is shocking!Went into Pocklington and would recommend The Bull, brilliant food and service from every member of staff

Excellent meal, went for my brothers birthday and he rates it 10/10 best meal he ever had. Well presented, great value for money, staff were great. Really can’t fault anything! Highly recommend

Food & staff were great. Disabled access wasn't good - small step at front of property to get up then had to manoeuvre wheelchair in a small space to get into the pub. No Disabled toilet either.

Awesome country pub with a great atmosphere and welcoming staff.We’d arrived as a stag party with no booking but the staff, and chef, were very accommodating and helped us out as much as they could.Special mention for the young lady by (Bryant) behind the bar who handled our requests with the upmost professionalism as well as being friendly too.Would recommend for a drink and meal and the next time I’m in the area I will definitely be visiting again.Thank you to everyone there.

We had a lovely lunch sat in The Melbourne Arms garden. Excellent variety of choice, including vegetarian/vegan options and homemade pizza. The food was delicious, reasonably priced and the staff are friendly and efficient. We definitely recommend.
