Gave a second chance after Mother’s DayBoth visits have been impromptu, this evening we had to ask for the table to be cleaned after the previous guests which the table had been reserved for 3 hours earlier had not been cleaned.Paid £34 for 2 sirloin steaks that had been broiled, not fried, no offer of sauce either, twice now have paid over £70 for each meal. Pub grub at inflated prices… pub is far too busy for the staff they employ which is very limited and we have experienced on both times we have visited.Hygiene = 0 had to request the table to be cleaned and still all the sticky marks remainedFood = 0 broiled steak requested medium, came well done.Service = 0 when paying I was asked how the meal was …. Reply was “not good”. No response received.Hygiene = 0 Looking around I can not see when the place was last cleaned. Dust on all surfaces, radiators in the toilets have so much grunge filled limescale embedded. This is a disgusting place and would not recommendWill we eat here again …. Definitely a no on that one

Eaten here twice in two days, exceptional food at a sensible price. Very attentive staff can highly recommend the sunday lunches, gammon and madras Many thanks Tom and Andy

Lovely locals pub, though as outsiders we were made most welcome and the food was excellent. The staff were attentive and pleasant and the locals a real friendly bunch. Thank you.

We are on holiday in the area. Had lovely meals on Friday thought we'd try Sunday dinner. BIG mistake I think the cow was 100 years old. The beef was so fatty and tough, soft soggy yorkshire puddings considering we are in yorkshire not great 🙈 melt in your mouth cauliflower, burnt carrots, and dried out roast potatoes. The peas and the boiled potatoes were the only things edible. If I'm ever in the area again I will not be going back and I definitely don't recommend the Sunday dinners. I did get refunded 1 dinner but considering I didn't eat it, it was only right.

Lovely dog friendly pub, popped in for a few drinks and booked for Sunday lunch. Staff happy and helpful and very welcoming

Two good evening meals there this week, kind and considerate staff, made me feel very welcome. The swan on the pastry was a nice finishing touch to a yummy pie. Some veg with the delicious sausages would have been good, but I didn't say anything and huge portion of potato!

We have been quite a few times and it's always been beautiful food. Today a let down. It was like a school dinner. The beef was like chewing an elastic band.

Some of the family and I went for a meal , thoroughly enjoyed the food, nothing but praise for new landlord and his wife , can't recommend it highly enough . Will be in again on Saturday night.

Always had a drink here but never ordered food till yesterday, we ordered Yorkshire pudding sandwich one beef and one pork yummy the best thing was they were home made Yorkshire puddings which believe me is the difference, beautiful

We had dinner here twice in the same week whilst on holiday in the area as the food was so good! A lovely menu choice and everything was fresh and good portion sizes. My husband says it's the best curry he has ever had. The staff were really friendly and were doing a fantastic job of social distancing, track and trace etc Would definitely recommend.
