Barkers Department Store Coffee Shop in Hambleton

Lovely department store, spent a couple of hours walking round. Excellent housewares floor and good choice of women's clothing, lots of brands.

This is a good department store with quality products on offer. Clothes, shoes, cosmetics, cards and plenty of other things, as well as a restaurant and cafe which sell perfect decent food and good coffee.One of the 2 best stores in town (the other being Lewis and Cooper).

Top store, a bit pricey but a wonderful selection of goods for the person or the home

What a joy to visit, we popped in for a morning treat, and that's exactly what we got! From the cheerful greeting when we entered, this was a really vibrant, clean, happy environment. The menu had a good variety of breakfast/morning fayre, along with the luscious cakes and treats on display when you walk in the door. We had bacon and egg in white and tea. Along with a very smooth cappuccino with soya and cinnamon sprinkled on. They had an instant recognition when I said non-dairy so offered cinnamon on the cappuccino instead, along with Oat or Soya alternative milk.We were so impressed we came back before we went home but went to the first floor where they served hot food. We didn't try any on this occasion, however it looked mighty good and was reasonably priced. The staff all so helpful.On this occasion we had apple and sultana cake, San pellegrino lemon, diet coke and a very bold Java served in a cafetiere. Seating very clean and cafe very airy and inviting.We can't wait to return. We really enjoyed this visit! Thank you!

Excellent always a lovely place to visit we go often . Food delicious staff kind an d helpful. Good choice of food all home made and excellent value. Al departmens well staffed and again helpful and obliging

Went for food in the cafe upstairs, I had to wait about 30 mins after I ordered my vegan meal (the only vegan option available) as they had to defrost it first. For the money I would expect freshly made that day but it was nice. Please if your reading this Barkers more vegan options.

I can only comment on the cafe. Great little straightforward place with happy staff who have a laugh with you. Good food at sensible prices and, what's rare, decent coffee.

Today was my first visit to the shop for many years. It wasn't to busy so I was able browse the wide range of items for sale. The food smelt absolutely wonderful. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to order a meal as I was on my way to the Friarage Hospital for an appointment. Hopefully next time I'll be enjoying a nice meal up on the first floor.

Really nice food and most of the staff were nice except the supervisor who was rude and initially refused us entry because we had a pushchair for our 8 month old even though there was lots of space and we'd eaten their numerous times before without problem. After a heated discussion the manager offered us a free meal which we accepted. We have made a complaint about the supervisor and we'll be considering weather to go back in the future.
