Stayed for work for 1 night staff very attentive friendly and well dressed food amazing bed was too hard for me I prefer feather pillows hot water wasn't hot just the little things need sorting

Very comfortable for a lunch. Good varied menu. Always cooked well and staff very friendly and polite. Have been going here for years and never disappointed.

A sad second visit hoping the first one two months at a busy time was going to be better. We booked a particular room which was changed without notice to something much smaller but for the same price. We could have swallowed that but the shower door rollers were both broken and unsafe. In fact the door came off in my hand and could have been dangeorus for someone less prepared. The doors on the shower have been like this for a long time and others must have been complained about them. Where one bottom roller on the door was broken it had rusted up it had been there son long. It was impossible to shut the shower doors properly and they were hanging on by the skin of their teeth. Very Poor Golden Lion Hotel.

Had lunch there today, very extensive menu available. If you can't find something you want on it you must be a very very fussy eater.Portion sizes generous to say the least, two of us couldn't finish it and all the food was tasty. Very good value and next time we are in Northallerton we will certainly go back.

Very disappointed with Sunday lunch. Firstly we were not seated in the restaurant and were just given a table in the bar. We had to make our own way to the table with no table service whatsoever. The table was placed in close proximity to the the toilet entrance. I had to go to the bar to order drinks. We had to pass people entering the bar as we carried food from the carvery and the food wasn't hot enough. All together a bad experience and I certainly would not recommend going for Sunday lunch. Having said that we have been many times for lunch during the week and we have never been disappointed. We have always sat in the restaurant and the table service has always been excellent

Great service, brilliant staff, special mention for George, who goes above and beyond. Food is great. A true Family hotel, it does exactly what it says on the tin. We have stayed here for years, always happy with everything.

Visited regularly for lunch. Simple food, good quality and reasonably priced. Good selection of beers. Clean, warm and welcoming venue.

Stayed here for a couple of nights for a dater weekend with hubby.Did the couples special deal, £125 for 3 course dinner (Inc bottle of wine), bed and breakfast.Everything about this place was amazing,.Room was so comfortable and quiet, bath in the bathroom which is always a bonus.Staff in the hotel are brilliant, nothing is a bother and everyone is so friendly.The food was outstanding. 3 courses included in the deal. I had warm chicken and bacon salad, halloumi skewers and apple pie, hubby had nachos, beef sizzler and cheesecake. The breakfast was also top notch with loads of choice.The hotel is central to northallerton and has free parking for guests.We will definitely return.

Stayed here last weekend with our children and young families to go on the polar express. What a true gem right in the town. Yes rooms are dated or traditional depending on your taste but everything you could need and spotlessly clean. Staff were helpful and went above and beyond at breakfast for our granddaughter who thought it was lunch time and wanted chicken nuggets !!! The lovely waitress wasn't fazed and happily obliged a confused little girl. We also had an even meal on the night we arrived again the staff were delightful not bothered by a one year old deciding to go off exploring also happy to nurse a 6 week old baby as mum had her meal. would definitely stay here again if we are lucky enough to return to this lovely part of the country.

We stayed there and loved the place.Very competitive room prices, cosy bar area and great friendly staff.Worth a visit.Just font stay in rooms 31-33, freezing.
