Extremely underwhelming. I speak only about my meal. Everyone else on my table seemed to enjoy their's.I opted for the fish and chips, at £16 I'm expecting excellence. On arrival I initially thought they had bought me a kids meal, the fish was tiny. It was tasty and the batter was light but 5 mouthfuls is what it surmounted to. The chips, unfortunately were inedible. Crunchy inside, dry and overcooked on the outside. I did mention it to the waitress when she asked if everything was OK, she apologised but nothing was done about it.4th time at the Carpenter's and 3rd disappointment.Flatters to deceive.

Nipped in on the off chance while passing and what a place to have accidentally found. Luckily was in before the kitchen closed and were seated immediately. From that point on the staff have been so attentive. Looked after by Izzy who has been fantastic. The food was outstanding and the price was incredible considering the quality and service. Will definitely be back.

Fantastic meal! We met a couple of friends for a Saturday evening and the service was great. The whole team from walking in were friendly and helpful. Food was excellent.

Just had a wonderful Sunday lunch. We hadn’t booked, and we were quite late arriving for a lunch, but the staff were so helpful and especially Alex who went above and beyond to get us a table. The vegi option is the best I have had on a Sunday lunch and my partner enjoyed the roast beef. The pub is really lovely inside and overall a great experience.

Amazing food!! We had the Sunday roast!Impeccable service, really friendly staff and nothing is too much trouble!! Would highly recommend this place!

·

Lovely food but shame about the service. We waited 10 minutes for a drink which we could see sat on the bar..empty glasses weren't cleared away from our table the whole time we were there. Never offered water for the table...A busy pub and food was very tasty, perhaps staff were new and didn't know the ropes...

We had to change our booking at short notice which was accommodated with no problem. When we arrived we were taken to our table with menus and wine list. It seemed a long time before we had our food order taken, although the drinks came promptly. There seemed to be a very long delay before the starters came, a cold salad dish so no cooking required. Then came the long wait, with a table of 4 who arrived at the same time finishing their main before ours arrived. After being seated for 90 minutes, our main arrived with no explanation or apology for the long wait. We felt like second class diners, the regulars having priority or those refusing to sit where allocated getting better service. The food was good, but not worth the wait.

Shocking amount of time waiting for foodNo sanitisation of tables between diners!!!Very rude waitress - acknowledged that we wanted to feel safe and away from bulk of diners (and that it was our wedding anniversary). When we were subjected and somewhat overtaken by a table of 10 we asked for the bill to brought so we could leave asap - she might as well have thrown the bill and card machine at us. Her attitude was frankly disgusting. She completely forgot who was the guest and who was paying!!Not recommend for discerning patrons.

Great food, reasonable price drinks, and friendly staff. Nice place for a spot of lunch. Just remember to book for the evening as it's very popular

Went for a birthday meal on Monday, food was amazing and staff were great. Was lovely (and rare!) to have a choice of two vegetarian mains. Food was so good that we decided to return again later in the week. Couldn’t fault a thing- thank you!
