Lovely breakfast with lots of smokey bacon. For about £5, I got a large bacon and egg sandwich and cup of loose leaf tea that was great. Everyone was friendly.Would go back again

Dog friendly pub that has outdoor seating to the rear of the property. Proffers a range of handpulled cask beers: Timothy Taylor's Boltmaker, Saltaire Blonde, Timothy Taylor's Landlord, Timothy Taylor's Landlord Dark and Timothy Taylor's Golden Best.

Excellent food at a very reasonable price. A fantastic selection of Timothy Taylor beers that were very well kept. This is a pub that I would highly recommend and will return to in the future.

Excellent (though a bit pricey) example of a Timothy Taylor's pub. All Taylor's beers available, and in excellent fettle. Worth a visit..

didn't stay as someone that goes by the name of " OLAWUNMI OJERIAK" who i presume is a guest maybe under a different name he demanded £50 bank transfer for a room for the night which i payed to then him not opening the door to the hotel for me. a gentlemen i met outside had told me the same happened to him and he discovered that he is currently escorting an American girl out of this hotel but wouldn't let her leave. I'm under the assumption that they are still at this hotel to this day, I'm not sure if the hotel owners are involved but either way they should look into this accusation thoroughly and seriously, as a young women's life could be in danger.

There’s a reason we ate here three times in two days (driving from Harrogate to do so). It’s everything you want from a pub menu, executed with aplomb. Service was warm and friendly. If we lived in the region, we’d probably take up residence.

We had a really nice meal here on Sunday evening before going to watch the Ripon Wakeman blow his horn. All of the food was really delicious. The staff were very friendly. We didn’t have space for desert which was a shame.

I’ve eaten here twice, first by lucky accident and second with recommendation to family. Each time I’ve been very happy with the service and atmosphere, but the food was outstanding! If I ever pass the area again I’ll be sure to plan a stop here. For those with kids, they are very accommodating and portion sizes are ample with good quality food. Far too often the kids menus are just junk food, but not here.

I have in previous years given 5☆ but on most recent visit would now give 3☆. So have dropped my headline star rating to 4. Food standards have dropped a level from "really very good gastro pub food" to "basic pub grub". For example pork chipolatas were just chopped up sausages.
