Food is cheap, and you get food that far out weighs the price. Although not a gastronomic superb experience, it was more than adequate. Cooked well, service with a smile. Good price drinks as well.

I have given a score of 3/good as the staff were very nice and helpful. However our stay did not go without several hiccups: 1st was nothing big just a fused bulb in the bathroom however the landlady felt it best to move us to another room, she offered us a double ....we're friends not a couple so we were then put in another room...unfortunately through the night an awful sickly smell eminated from the bathroom area and wafted around our room. Sadly this remained for the rest of our stay. The food was good, large hearty portions. The management and staff have recently taken over so please don't write them off as there is true potential there.

Had a weekend stay at a lodge in the area and visited the Vale of York for a meal. Can honestly say it provided the best food I have ever seen from a pub. Everything to the best quality and for a great price, along with excellent customer service. This paired with the convenient location and local atmosphere I would recommend it to anyone and everyone. Tremendous.

Nice. First visit as local to us. Nice inside and very quite. Just us and the barmaid! Magic TV on with music, so nice. Set up for Christmas. Menu looked basic but OK and catered for all. Must revisit and try the food. Sport apparently on tv when on.

AN AWFUL PLACE TO STAY!First of all the person who checked me in told me it was their policy to take full payment before I had seen the room. She gave me the key and showed me to the door of the room but that was as far as she went. I had room No 4 which absolutely stank like a dirty dish cloth and I could smell it all night long. There was a huge stain on the carpet in the corner near the window and toilet. The kettle was covered in dust and you couldn't fill it up in the sink so I don't think anyone used it plus there was a huge amount of coffee and milk which seemed to be just buiding uo because noone used it.The bed stunk along with the bed sheets and towels. The wardrobe had no doors and was also stained so you just felt totally unclean while in there. My neighbour in one of the other rooms said their kettle was on the floor in the corner and when they moved it there was a load of dirt and rubbish behind it.There's nowhere to put your toiletries in the bathroom apart from on a boxed out pipe along the floor which is not good. You can't leave your toothbrush on the sink because it is too small to hold even a bar of soap!I had a shower mat/towel the first day but when the towels were changed on the second day they didn't leave another one.The room where you eat breakfast is very close to the toilets and there was a strong smell of the disinfectant urinal blocks immediately as you enter the room. I had to sit really close to the kitchen door in order to stay away from the smell. No wonder she took the payment first!!
