🏠 Main St, Stillington, York YO61 1JU
"The White Bear Inn is a traditional North Yorkshire pub between the City of York and Helmsley. It is set in the heart of the village of Stillington and is owned and run by husband and wife team, Phil and Sue Robinson, Phil and Sue are passionate about creating a pub that sits at the very heart of the community. One that welcomes everyone (and their dog) as they walk through the door. The team at The White Bear Inn do the simple things that make a ‘trip to the local’ more than just about a drink. Catching up with friends, and making new ones. Phil’s passion for real local ales means there’s always a great choice of guest beers – sparking discussion with drinkers and diners alike."

This is a great village pub with good food and a proper local welcome. Custard's not up to much though. Everything else was brilliant.

5 stars! Service was quick and friendly. Food was cooked to perfection with an excellent understanding of Gluten free requirements. Warm and welcoming and we cant wait to return.

What a brilliant find! A lovely cottage, clean, spacious, comfortable. Everything you need in the kitchen, cooker, microwave, dishwasher. Free parking right outside. Very wheelchair friendly, slight lip at front door easily negotiated. Walk-in shower. Lovely food in their pub next door. Very quiet at night. Great base to explore the area, 20 mins drive to York.

We stopped off for dinner and the welcoming host found us a table immediately. The drinks arrived quickly then our order was taken. No sitting around waiting to be noticed like in other pubs we visited. The food arrived beautifully presented and delicious. The tempura prawns are fantastic. I had the Cajun chicken strips were great as was my partner's steak. Great place with great food.

My birthday lunch was disappointing as were the food choices my friends made. Quite a good choice of vegetables but the gravy was tasteless. Nice homemade mint sauce saved the day. Sweet choice doesnt change much from one time to another. Have had very nice meals in the past. It was quite a busy Friday lunchtime. Not sure if there was a staff shortage.

Had a lovely walk to this place with my girls from a local campsite and it was so worthy of a good review. Every member of staff was friendly and attentive. The menu was brilliant in the choices it offered and very reasonably priced. There is also a lovely children's menu. They sell a plethora of gin which made me very happy! I recommend making a visit and I am sure the staff will go the extra mile for you as their customers. Will definitely visit again when in the area.
