Food in restaurant was really good quality and that's coming from a chef who works at a top restaurant. Now onto the bad bits, girlfriend was accused of lying by the landlord after he put soda in her gin instead of lemonade, came over to us later with a half arsed apology saying he pressed both buttons at once. The room Oak Lodge or room 4 looked nice at first a glance, but TV and WiFi didn't work also shower was very weak, and could not get a steady temperature mainly scolding hot water, very dangerous for children. Told the landlord who said it's to do with the water pressure in the Dale's and apparently all rooms are like that in the Dales. Maybe true but would have been nice to have been warned. Also no welcome pack, no Irish breakfast or fruit

A short ride from the A1M and it was well worth it. Recently extended with a new dining room. This hotel/pub is well worth a visit food is excellent cooked to order and reasonably priced. The proprietor is friendly accommodating, welcoming all you could ask of a host. On our next visit (soon) my partner and have resolved to rent a room and sample more of the outstanding menu and hospitality.

Cracker! We called the morning and arrived to a reserved space. Nice touch.Spent the night in our campervan in the Woodman car park whilst travelling around North Yorkshire. Very friendly and helpful staff. EHU and water point and flat car park.We had dinner and drinks in the pub which discounted our site fee from £20 to £5 for the night.Lovely food and caring chef and staff. They even made their own pork scratchings!!

One night overnight stay in our motorhome (7 meters long) on route to Whitley Bay.Electric and water provided which is £5.00 plus £15 for overnight stay but this taken off if any meal taken.Friendly staff made us very welcome. Dog friendly. We had a lovely Sunday evening meal, my wife had a rhubarb gin with ginger ale.Highly recommended

In the lovely North Yorkshire countryside, The Woodman Inn is classy but homely. Lovely decor, with a light and airy feel. Having been in this neck of the woods befote, so to speak, it was a first time visit for us here. Typically, as in many Yorkshire pubs/eateries, the portions are not small. As a farmers daughter, it is something we were well used to, but sadly, I embarassingly failed. Even to the extent of no dessert. 😢. Getting back to the food, there was a vast menu to choose from, and it was served piping hot and beautifully presented. And we didn't have to wait long either.... It was after all Easter Sunday. A constant stream of people, told me that this place was very popular. Well done to all members of staff, who were welcoming, helpful and friendly. It was a brilliant find for us. Good ales too!!

When you find somewhere like this on a long journey, rejoice! We had the Gammon steak, Wensleydale chicken and kids pasta. Brilliant service and food that is wholesome. Thanks! We'll be back on our next trip to Scotland!

Stayed for 1night, made to feel really welcome, very friendly host also very friendly locals. Evening meal in the restaurant was first rate and the breakfast was huge. Would highly recommend this.

We popped in speculatively for lunch, and were instantly made really welcome. The bar was serving several locally brewed cask ales and the Pennine Ales' Amber Necker was a joy. The home-made steak and ale pie was stunning and the accompanying seasonal vegetables were crisp, full of colour and flavour. A lovely place for good beer and well-cooked classic pub food.
