The cafe is located in the heart of Thirsk, near the World of James Herriot, in a cobbled market square. There is ample parking which is free after 1800 hrs.The restaurant had closed by the time we visited. However the chip and gravy supper take-away was really good. Chips were chunky and firm with light fluffy centers The beef gravy thick and gooey with a perfect stick to chip consistency, all served in a cardboard (eco friendly) box with lashings of salt and vinegar. Although a little on the expensive side (just) the quality was value for money. The other food items (fish, sausage etc) looked delicious. It should be noted that those with mobility issues may find access difficult due to the front steps.

The best chips I have had in a long time! Decent sized portion for your money ÂŁ2.40 (May 2022). Sadly I could not finish because I felt full up. Photograph is what was left. Please visit I am sure their fish is great. Tables to sit at outside too. Friendly staff.

Yummy fish, chips and curry sauce. Sat on seating outside but they also have a restaurant. Serve whippy ice cream if you want a pudding.

Had fish chips and mushy peas to take out, they were very good, not greasy or heavy! Nice to sit out and eat in the square. The staff were also really nice and friendly

Good fish and chip lunch. Generous portions and friendly service. The restaurant upstairs is well set out and clean. Have visited a few times and will certainly go back.

Really good tasty traditional food. Lovely dinning room upstairs. Hubbie had the fish and chips which came with a slice of bread and butter. I don't eat fish, so opted for chicken pieces ( pieces of chicken breast in a light batter) with the most delicious chips, and a nice mix of salad. Hubbi said the batter on his fish was lovely and crisp and light. Tarter and tomatoe sauce on the table. Well worth the visit.

Great food. Super quick. Nice and hot. Good value. Enjoyed my first “Yorkshire Fish Cake”. Great twist on a regular fish cake. Curry sauce good too.

Absolutely amazing food. It may be a fish and chip restaurant (also has a takeout) but they do sell other food and there are a couple of vegetarian options, worth noting that there isn't many of them though. I had the vegetable burger and it was quite nice but the lettuce was a little tasteless. Other than that, I loved coming here and the staff are very helpful and friendly. The chips are some of the best I've ever had and I've been to some of the most well known places for chips in the country (Trenchers Whitby etc).
