Lovely pub and beer garden and that’s were it ends, booked in for Sunday lunch staff were not attentive at all I had prawn cocktail to start witch was tasteless they brought me a dessert spoon and fork to eat it with and no knife to spread the butter. Roast beef and roast was tasty and plentiful but the vegetables were very under done roast potatoes were dry and hard and no colour to them, not was did the staff ask if everything was ok and can I get you anything else I even have to ask for another knife with my main meal because I had used it to spread butter for my starter and charged £47 for the experience.

Stumbled on this little gem for lunch while heading back home to Newcastle. What a great place to eat, fab staff, fab food, fab decor with a beautiful beer garden. You’ll certainly not be disappointed

We stayed here for valentine's Weekend and it was absolutely beautiful, the staff could not have done more for us, they were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in a lovely room that was dog friendly, we took two springer spaniels with us. Breakfast was served in the Manor House which was fantastic. I would recommend this to anyone and we will definitely return.

The Pub looks to have been recently refurbished, nice varied menu, good prices and very pleasant staff. Well recommended.

Lovely old style place. Had the lentil soup which was lovely. Staff were really friendly to us as bikers. Nice real fire too and the locals are really friendly too. Definitely worth stopping for a warm up on a winter ride 🙂

Stayed for 2 nights here this week, close to Knaresborough and ideally situated for visiting the Dales. Quiet location and ample parking. Our room was large, comfortable king size bed and sofa, big tv and tea/coffee facilities. Bathroom clean with both a bath and powerful shower. Only had breakfast there as meeting friends each day, but the 'Full Yorkshire Breakfast' was excellent. Staff friendly and helpful. Would definately return here again and happy to recommend it.

Wonderful lunchtime meal, relaxing surroundings, very accessible for my wife's motorised wheelchair and great friendly staff made us feel very welcome plus excellent service. Would highly recommend a visit to anyone who wants a superb meal in a pleasant and comfortable environment. Top marks from me.

Quite good and a very good location. Reasonable menu, but it had changed from the one from which we had ordered. Most of the dishes were good, especially the fish and chips. However I and my son-in-law ordered a rump of lamb risotto (original order unavailable), in which the proportion of fat to lean meat was predominantly fat - it felt a bit cynical. We didn't complain as we'd waited quite a while and an alternative main course wouldn't have come quickly. I gave my daughter the cost of those two dishes. Service: those doing the service at table were polite but the 'mine host' of the day seemed to have a 'no messing' blunt approach. That's fine but if it discourages comments about problems it's not good. We might not go back.

I’m not usually one to leave reviews, either positive or negative, but felt like I really had to!Me and my friend went in today, totally randomly after seeing a sign when leaving Knaresborough as we both fancied a roast dinner. We both opted for the rare roast sirloin. In many pubs, mid-afternoon the beef stops being rare, not here! I have never ever had such beautifully cooked roast beef. Perfectly rare, so succulent and so full of flavour. Genuinely, the best roast beef I have ever had. Yorkshire was outstanding, veg flavoursome and potatoes crisp. The staff were great, nothing was too much trouble (not even the cheeky two jugs of extra gravy).Off-the-beaten-track country pub that I would recommend to anyone. Beautiful beer garden too! Thanks for a top meal guys and serious compliments to the chef, seven years in a kitchen and I could never cook beef like that 😉
