Reroute to purposely try this much recommended, and much in demand tea room for the 'original' afternoon tea. Luckily we didn't have to queue much, and ambience and service was great! But probably a little over-rated as food was more pretty than tasty, on the dry and sweet side.

Bettys was a lovely experience. It's well decorated with a lovely ambience (picture how the Titanic tea room would have looked) and fantastic customer service! The queues can be long, but they move at a steady pace. Once inside, it's actually spacious with 3 floors and not crowded as you'd imagine. You can actually have a conversation and hear one another! The prices don't break the bank either, and the most expensive coffee was around £8 or so, which is not much more than a high street coffee chain. The only criticism that we have sadly is with the food we ordered. The pan-fried salmon salad dish was cooked with orange slices, and they really did not go together at all, therefore left most of it.Also, the soup of the day (mushroom) could have been better presented. I know it's soup, but still, a deeper bowl with some garnish would have made a huge difference. It looked like a bowl of weetabix and tasted okay. However, I would still not mark this place down due to the overall experience and customer service, which made up for everything. The coffee and cakes were amazing!

Came here just before Christmas for afternoon tea. The room was decorated with a beautiful tree and a pianist was playing, creating a lovely atmosphere. The food and service were great, as you would expect from Betty's.

Absolutely superb! Today we went for a lovely afternoon tea in the beautiful imperial room. The interior is absolutely stunning and feels calm. Our server Megan was amazing - so bubbly, efficient and personable! Anne was also lovely and charming. We were serenaded by a live piano - the pianist playing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" at our request was very special. All the workers were incredibly friendly and attentive making us feel very welcome. There are so many unique and diverse teas to choose from, and the food is delicious. I will definitely be planning another visit!

Excellent service and excellent food. There is a slight queue when waiting to enter but it usually goes pretty quick. The food was exquisite and the service was second to none. Definitely worth the visits if you are near.

Betty's was an absolute treat! Absolutely freezing whilst waiting for a table but it was worth it. Beautiful setting, atmosphere, wonderful staff, awesome teas and treats. We were whisked away to one of the rooms downstairs where we tried 3 different teas, scones, sandwiches, oh, and the frites!!!It felt like being on a tea pilgrimage!

Have been here twice now. The hype is worth it.The 2nd visit went a bit wrong as the waitress completely messed our order up, missing out half of what we ordered which meant we were waiting about an hour. However, the way it was dealt with meant we weren’t upset or annoyed. The manager was very apologetic and rectified the situation straight away and gave us some free drinks. The food, as expected, was delicious and well presented. We shared some afternoon tea and got some extra plates individually. It’s an experience as well as eating out, and a must do when visiting Harrogate for the first time.

OH MY GOSH. If you plan a trip to Harrogate or even to Yorkshire itself, visit Betty's for a wonderful experience. This was part of our itinerary for our Grand Tour of Yorkshire - plus it was for a family celebration. Wanted to visit for a few years & so glad we did. I highly recommend that you book ahead if going for an afternoon tea. From the moment you enter the customer service is welcoming. The Imperial Suite is amazing & at the time of our visit the Festive menu was being served - the Christmas tree looks fabulous. The waiting staff are attentive & efficient. Everything is served just so. The sandwiches & cakes are very tasty. I did get beaten on the cake side of things but any leftovers get boxed up to take away (see pic). It's a relaxed atmosphere made more enjoyable by the pianist playing in the background. You have your table for 1 1/2 hrs so aren't rushed at all. Very enjoyable experience & would include in any future visit to the area.
