Carriages in Harrogate

One of my absolute favourite places to come for a meal. The food is always fantastic, with lots of thought put into creating a unique and varied menu. The service is spot on, attentive but relaxed. It's just a happy, comfortable place to be.

This place really knows it's target demographic! The tunes are perfect; a great selection of 90s bangers! Nice and cosy on the inside. Decent tempura on the broccoli and the burgers were tasty and incredibly filling. The in-house IPA was a bit bland, but maybe that's because it was too cold.

We've been to Carriages quite a few times in the past, but this was our first time at The Bear at Carriages after its renovation. It's a lovely bar and restaurant and they now have a fantastic outdoor seating area with covers and heaters, and an outdoor grill. The staff were great and service was good. The passion fruit martinis were delicious! The food was really good too. I had the seafood chowder which had large prawns and lots of fish. It was creamy and filling. The rest of our table had broccoli tempura, karaage chicken, and a couple of the specials of the day. The desserts we tried (sticky toffee pudding and chocolate tart) were really tasty too. I'd absolutely recommend trying this place.

Just popped in here on a whim before our trains back to Manchester and it was a brilliant surprise how great the food was! Gorgeous old pub building that was tastefully decorated (the bears on beer glasses I liked especially). Staff were lovely and explained things perfectly. We had the Yorkshire burger, Courgette & potato chips, and Karaage chicken; with a rhubarb G&T and a Citrusy IPA. Was all amazing and we only wish we lived closer to get to go back sooner and eat here again!

What an amazing find this was! Stopped here for lunch on the way up north and it was the best decision of the weekend. Super friendly staff, very quick service and extremely tasty food. Very happy indeed and looking forward to returning. 3 course meal for 2 with drinks for about £60 was a lovely surprise too!

Friendly staff, delicious food, great ambience, would recommend for anyone looking for independent pub food with fantastic options! The vegan chocolate dessert was amazing!! Tempted to pop by again on our way back down from Scotland!

I got the steak and chips. They are good but a bit pricy at £16! Good selection of wines. Service and ambience are great. Worth a stop if you’re hungry and near the station.

What an amazing place. Went just for a drink before catching the train but ended up with cocktails and the most amazing steak. Very friendly staff and well the food was just 😍will definitely be returning when back in Knaresbrough

Great prawn starter & excellent flat-iron steak & chips. Clean plate!Great service. Only slightly negative comment - please bring the cutlery before the food arrives. Lovely evening.

Great pub/restaurant with covered outdoor area overlooking the train station.The food was really good, the vegetarian dish my girlfriend had was one of the best she has ever had. I had a taste and could have easily had that dish instead of my burger, which was very good as well!Highly recommended, book ahead on busy days as it'll be packed out.
