On arrival was met at reception by an untidely dressed man who didn't quite make us feel welcome. The room itself was very bland, discoloured white towels hanging right beside toilet bowl on a towel heater which scalded my thigh when sat down on the toilet. The bar didn't open till 5:00pm and food was served from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Decided not to stay, went to settle bill and had put a charge on for breakfast which was never ordered.

What a nice find, friendly, slightly funky, fab food in a great location away from the maddening crowd…. Or is that just Yorkshire!? 😜

Arrived with my wife and stayed over night, place seemed old fashioned. The woman who I assume to be the owner was drunk and an incredibly rude woman that worked behind the bar seemed very passive aggressive. She made my wife feel uncomfortable.I will not be staying here again, it ruined our anniversary and honestly, I don’t think they deserve business. Complete and utter nightmare from the start.The only thing I can really say is they had a nice horse. :)

Had an overnight stay with my husband + daughter( 2 rooms). Room was comfortable + warm but could have been cleaner. Personal item from previous customer behind bed along with lots of dust + tea area still marked from previous people. Daughters room recently decorated + was very nice, toilets in both rooms cold. Plumbing noises from other rooms a bit annoying.

Beautiful hotel in north Yorkshire, it was spotlessly clean warm great breakfast and friendly staff. We will definitely be returning next year.

Would have been 5 stars but for the mattress which was far to soft and the bedroom being very basic. Breakfast was very good along with the restraunt. With Excellent service provided by the polite friendly staff.

Comfortable, quiet accommodation with good food and drink available on site. Perfect stop off location or base for exploring the local area and sights.

Peaceful location, friendly helpful staff, good food at good prices. Big car park, covered terrace outside room entrance doors with table and chairs opposite each door. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend or stay again.

Went there for 2nights last week for Ripon races, lovely laid-back staffand owners, nothing too much trouble,nice scenic setting , breakfast really good , also I had fish and chips on Friday, excellent, brilliant chips , fish nice too. The owners are so relaxed , not rushing you to pay bill, so much so , we wanted to pay before end off stay , but they are so chilled about it, would definitely recommend it
