Golden Star Chinese Takeaway in Harrogate

Used Golden Star for years. Ordered a chicken omelette. Arrived home to find there was raw egg in the carton, potential food poisoning. Called to ask for a replacement meal to be delivered and they wanted me to pay the £2 difference, for a different dish. I obviously did not want the same meal after seeing it in it’s raw state. They refused so I had to drive back out of principle, to return the dish and get a refund. Extremely poor management!!!

Really annoying, yet another take away that was late.Originally when ordering through Deliveroo it said 25-30 min delivery time, as soon as hit order it jumped to 45 min and then when reached the 55 min time frame when I phoned to check the progress .... answer is that it will be at least other 10 min before its sent out blaming deliveroo and lack of drivers.Order eventually arrived 75 min after placing order it arrivedMaybe don't over commit yourself by being on multiple delivery apps and using only your own drivers!!!Food was mostly fine.

Nice enough, but just updated their menu (November 2021) and increased prices and cook some dishes differently now which I don't like as much 😔 so will try out some other places.

Ordered meal for 4 people through Just Eat at 1930 and got confirmation email at 1931 with delivery time of 2020 to 2040. Food arrived at 2055 but when we unpacked it we saw that we had been given an egg fried rice instead of boiled rice. I phoned at 2058 and was told that boiled rice would be sent out. It's now 2125 and it hasn't arrived. The rest of the meal has gone cold. Very disappointing.

Ordered this evening. Chips and prawn crackers were from last night at least ..if not older. Beef curry was 100% tasteless. Clearly watered-down curry sauce, with very poor quality beef. This was not a cheap takeway either.

DO NOT order here ! Chips and rolls where cooked twice very hard, burnt and full of oil. The curry is the cheapest powder form they could possibly buy and its left us feeling ill. This place used to be ok im guessing they have changed hands because the quality has gone down hill to say the least. Shows how much they value customers allowing this to leave the the kitchen, disgrace.

Order was 40 mins late, despite acctually making the order 2 hour's before to arrive at a certain time and when arrived we haven't even got everything we ordered. No one would answer the phone when I was ringing to find out where the order was or now when I'm ringing to find out where our missing stuff is. Would be fine if I hadn't already paid for this through just eat!!!

The food was ok nothing special. A little over priced to say they don't include rice or chips with the mains, I thought I would try the tempura king prawns it's meant to be a light thin coating if batter. They couldn't get more batter on them if they tried and why did they serve it with seafood sauce I don't know, how's seafood sauce Chinese.

Certainly well above average for a takeaway. Doesn't taste too processed - it actually looks & tastes pretty fresh.Restaurants aside, this is the best Chinese I've come across in a long time. Will be ordering again soon.Good price, really friendly delivery guy & everything my partner and I ordered was decent-to-lovely...
