From the moment we arrived we were made felt most welcome. What a lovely place and Sam was a great host. Bedrooms were immaculate and it felt like a home from home. We will definitely be coming back here soon as everything was 1st class from the room to the drinks and the food. Also breakfast was fantastic as well. Recommend this to anyone who wants to try something new and different.

It's not the most auspicious of locations - on a roundabout - but it is a roundabout literally over the River Ure. The hotel itself is a delight and the management has worked very hard to make it a hospitable, comfortable and interesting stay. Service was excellent throughout. Our room was not a deluxe one and slightly on the small side but otherwise excellent. The food very good too with some excellent alternatives to the more normal pub fare which is also available too for those that want it. An excellent location for an overnight stay. Close to the A1(M) but in a very pleasant town with fascinating historical Roman heritage.

Car parking free but a limited amount of spaces. The welcome was warm and friendly (wouldn’t expect anything else from Yorkshire folk) and the room was modern and warm with everything that you could need.Evening meal was somewhat disappointing due to lack of choice (Sunday menu) and the fact it was served warm rather than hot. My wife’s meal was perfect and she thoroughly enjoyed it.Bed was very comfortable and led to a restful sleep and the cooked breakfast was perfectWould recommend and return

Chance stop off on our way home from Northumberland. Excellent beer and very good pizzas. Rest of menu looked imaginative too but it was two for one pizza day! Lovely outdoor eating areas)/ beer to garden which will be well worth a visit in summer. They also have 8 nice rooms for overnight stays. Plenty to do in the area so it'd be a nice base for touring

Chose to stay after seeing reviews. We spent a lovely afternoon with daughter after treating her to lunch here at the Grantham Arms. We booked bed and breakfast and after having the delicious lunch here decided to book for dinner. The food is beautiful and cooked to perfection and I can’t praise the management and staff highly enough. They go above and beyond and are really friendly and welcoming, making the Grantham Arms a great place to stay.

The room was excellent. We had the junior suite which was superb. You won't find much better in a top hotel. The food and service was definitely 5 star. All the staff were very good and helpful with a smile on there faces. We will definitely go again. Don't hesitate to go to the Grantham arms you will not be disappointed.

First impressions of the hotel was excellent. Very inviting outside, with well kept floral displays and excellent outside seating areasWe were warmly welcomed and our rooms were spotless, and well maintained. There were small touches like they used refillable water bottles and also supplied fresh milk in chilled flasks. We ate there both nights and food was excellent. Nothing was,a bother to any of the staff. We would definitely return.A small point, I don't eat a,cooked breakfast and would have liked a bowl of fresh fruit to have with my cereal and yoghurts were only available on one of the days. Others in our group had cooked breakfast and they looked fab.

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights bed and breakfast over the stormy weekend and had a birthday dinner there on the Sat night with friends and family. Our whole stay was magical. The rooms were spotless and well decorated with fresh milk and water on a daily basis. The staff were so kind and helpful throughout our stay. The full English breakfast was excellent just what was needed during the wet windy weather. I would recommend The Grantham Arms to anyone and will definitely be coming back.Michael & Theresa

Very nice setting, well decorated with a good atmosphere. Enjoyed a couple of drinks in a side room before we left. A lot of tables were reserved for meals in this very popular pub/restaurant.Outside there were some "igloos/pods" that could be reserved - looked very cosy and a good place to meet up with friends.Dog friendly.

Very helpful and friendly staff, good food and a good pint ofTimothy Taylor's Landlord. Only downside not really easily accessible to wheelchair users although staff did guide us to one of their very comfortable outdoor igloos. Also car parking very limited but this does not cause me to downgrade my 5 stars as the staff, food, beer and atmosphere more than made up for this.
