Hales Bar in Harrogate

Very old pub, really friendly bartender and the place is decorated with cool interesting props hanging on the walls. We ordered a couple of rounds of mini Guinness shots (super tasty), before we knew it everyone who saw them ordered them too!

Good traditional pub retaining many period features. Warm friendly atmosphere and a reasonable selection of cask ales from local breweries. Daleside blonde was very good.

Lovely pub, definitely not a trendy wine bar, live music, open mike music night, great atmosphere. Worth a visit to see the interior

Interesting bar in Harrogate, worth a visit.

Apparently the most historic & oldest pub in Harrogate, this has a history going back many years as Harrogate became a spa resort. The main lounge bar is well preserved with mirrors & other interesting features & fittings from the Victorian era, including traditional gas lighting & cigar lighters on the bar. The main bar is very atmospheric with a good range of real ales, together with more popular beverages. Didn't get to sample the food but would like to go back to do so. Well worth a visit.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Hales Bar. The beer and wine was excellent. Just a shame they only had one cider on tap, but guess they cater for local requirements. The live music was great and we hadn't heard any since pre lockdown. We would have stayed longer if they offered food in the evening. Seemed to be a locals pub, just the sort we like.

What an interesting and unusual bar. Good service and ales with a real mixture of customers. Friendly feel to it. Would visit again Meant to be the oldest gas lit pub in Harrogate?

Brilliant gas lit old fashioned multi roomed dark wood pub. Harrogate isn't a cheap place and that won't change when you come here but it appears by far the best option assuming you like traditional establishments.Also has live acoustic folk music on Sunday afternoons.Good choice of hand pulled ales which included the the outstanding Titanic Plum Porter on my last visit.

A wonderful traditional pub, that still retains gas lighting. A well kept range of real ales, a real cider would be a bonus. Attracts some really good talent to the Monday night buskers evening.

Brilliant pub. Supposedly oldest in town going back to 1766. I believe it, old and quirky. Still got gas lamps on the bar. Several real ales and a few foreign beers. We really enjoyed our visit, hope to try the food next time. The barmaid was really friendly. Cracking old pub you should try it.
